Fretless with Thomastick flatwounds, so it might not be a good tonal reference point for you, but what the heck ...

Aren't they just standard Bartolini soapbars, but installed in a slanted pattern? I mean, they're not special 'slanted pickups', to my knowledge. But I've been wrong before ... ;)

You totaly right, the pickups are standard one but the slented position and routing makes it impossible to install for instance some Nordstrand pickups since the pole piece need to be lined under the strings. So if you want to change pickups, you need to chose some which can be installed in a slented position.

yupp. the replacements would need non-pole bar style pups. or custom designed spacing on poles. which would be mucho monero.

As far as my favorite Roscoe setup, I would have to lean towards my SKB-3006 (but I may be biased ;) ):

Body: Spanish Cedar
Top: Spalt/Quilt Maple
Fretboard: Birdseye Maple
Electronics: Demeter Pre

Hey! I resemble that remark!

The sister to that cocobolo that keeps showing up is my favorite as far as looks are concerned. But here's my favorite playing Roscoe, and she's a looker too:

I actually like the Century Signature the most for looks and such, but the SKB is a very close second.

Seriously! Back in the day when Keith was an active player (I hate to tell y'all this, but he's not a bassist, he's a <shudder> guitarist! :eek: ;) ), the bassist he was working in a band with was a girl, she one day complained that ALL of the basses she tried were too big for her, and the ones that weren't didn't balance worth a poot. Keith sat down and came up with a smaller, well-balanced body design, and that became the LG 2000 series (flat-topped), which evolved into the LG 3000 series (carved topped). Hence LG = Little Girl. :)

(For those that must know: SKB stands for "Skyscraper Bass", and no, I don't know why! :confused: :spit: )
