Your favorite singer in the Eagles?

Great question. I never thought about it. They're all just Eagle songs. They seemed to match the song to the vocalist perfectly (or that's how it looks in hindsight). Probably Glen Frey by a hair, but yeah so many good choices.

I did read that Don Felder wanted to sing Life In The Fast Lane, and was overruled...creating yet one more point of disgruntlement between him and Henley/Frey.
The song in question was Hotel California. Don Felder wrote the first draft of that song, and believes it to be his baby that was taken from him.

VG will tell you HE'D rather Glenn Frey was still there.

But I can not think of anyone better suited in so many ways for them to bring in, especially while the rest of them are good singers on their own, the secret to the Eagles is that harmony blend, THAT's what pays the bill, and exceptionally tricky to find the right person to plug into that. VG does it beautifully.
I was pleasantly surprised to hear how well Vince's voice fit in. I'm a big VG fan though maybe a bit biased. We grew up down the street from each other and he was a year ahead of me in school. I still can't believe the dorky kid that started out playing in a local pizza parlor became such a star.

Walsh. He brings an irreverent attitude to what is an otherwise very "buttoned up" band.

I'm not knocking them. I love their music. They just needed a tiny vit of edge... and Walsh delivered.
Joe wasn’t my favorite Eagle (the nod goes to Randy Meisner on that.) Yes, his contributions were ultimately greater than Randy, but I’m speaking from just a personal taste of what defined the group.

I so much appreciate Joe more as a James Ganger and solo artist. Got to see him at Konocti Harbor Resort about 16 years. He was so funny and intelligent. I could just stayed there all night listening to him monologue. Had a group of young musicians that obviously loved his music and played it well. His own catalog is massive. I’d go see him solo again. Joe gets my second favorite Eagle rating.

I could be wrong, but with everything I've read/viewed I think it was "Victim of Love."

Victim Of Love too, but with all those other singers in the band. Ego can really lie to ya sometimes.;)
Aha! Answered.
They made the right choice going with Henley. Felder had the weakest lead singing voice of the entire bunch.

The 2 biggest issues that irked Felder was his name being moved to a lower position in the credits on the song Hotel California on one of the box sets (when he was the initial author,) and then being paid as a sideman and not an equal member (as he was when he joined the band in '74) when they regrouped for Hell Freezes Over.

Felder seemed perennially disgruntled, I've played with disgruntled cats, it can be exhausting.

That's one of the best things about The Eagles - their diversity with lead vocals. They all shine at different times.

That being said, I particularly love Henley's and Frey's lead vocals. Glenn Frey just blows me away when I listen to songs like "Heartache Tonight", "New Kid In Town" and "Already Gone". (And so many more!)

But on the other hand, Henley takes me to another world when I listen to "The Last Resort", "Victim Of Love", "Sad Cafe", and so many others. If somebody put a gun to my head and said, "Choose one", I'd go with Don Henley. But I'd feel like I'm slighting Glenn Frey unintentionally!
