Your favorite singer in the Eagles?

The Eagles have had 5 fantastic singers: Henley, Frey, Meisner, Schmit & Walsh. Henley is the best. Meisner had an incredible range. Timothy's backing vocals are second to none, and I like Joe's unique voice. However, I always preferred Glenn's voice. There is something magical and melancholy in his voice.

Frey was my favorite vocalist. What amazed me about these guys, as distinct as the voices were, how well the blended was astounding.

Vince Gill

VG will tell you HE'D rather Glenn Frey was still there.

But I can not think of anyone better suited in so many ways for them to bring in, especially while the rest of them are good singers on their own, the secret to the Eagles is that harmony blend, THAT's what pays the bill, and exceptionally tricky to find the right person to plug into that. VG does it beautifully.

Ha ha ha ha..........you beat me to it. Every time I hear The Eagles in a sentence, I always think of The Big Lebowski and The Dude's comment to the cab driver!

I'd include the YouTube clip but it has the "F" bomb. Don't want to get a warning.

Favorite singer in The Eagles? Probably Frey. He has a kind of down to earth type of vocal sound. All combined together, one of the best harmony singing groups ever!

Too bad that Top 40 radio played them to death over the decades. So, I kind of agree with The Dude.

Depends on the song.

Just let me know in advance if you are going to do Desperado so I can leave the room politely in advance.
agreed

also agreed. one of the best song interpreters ever

tough choice but...henley {those shoes, disco strangler... the long run album}, walsh, frey, meisner (get off, randy!).

Seems it's popular to hate on the eagles but those cats ruled the airwaves of my youth and the airwaves of my youth ruled.

I know it's in the rules, but any reference to the dreaded swear words that cannot be written, always makes me smile a little, so quaint and so 1950. (no insult to the moderators, or those who are offended by swear words) It's not like we don't hear the word all the time out in the real world, or know what's meant (so we say it in our heads) when someone types **** me, or something similar. Or dodges the blasphemy rule with the word 'Dog'.

Anyway, sorry for the aside, now back to the Eagles. Truly a excess of riches in the vocals department and they always seemed to manage to recruit another great voice that fitted in, with each change of personnel.

Grak (pictured here on the right). Krawh was great, too, of course. But there's a certain rasp in Grak's upper register that carries the choruses like no other Eagle.

By all means, it always has and always will be Randy Meisner. Most folks think Take it To The Limit is all he did that was good. (Which I like, but.,.)
Not so. This song below has always been my favorite lead by him. It’s also the first one I’d heard by him. Btw, his harmonies are unmistakable. Just being sentimental.
