I've strung a few packs of strings over the past coupla-four decades, mostly on one workhorse Precision. Roto-Sound Swing Bass 66 spent a lion's share of the time. That ringing piano-like tone always brought a smile to my face. Stylistically, that changed when I got a 5 string. I switched to D'Addario Chromed flatwounds, for two reasons. I've always played with a heavy hand (the unkind would suggest hamfisted). Flats were kind of a revelation in both feel and sound. Yeah, I heard about old guys and flats, and had told those jokes myself. So what. The real reason is the B string. Many brands, that sucker is just flapping in the breeze like Old Glory. Not with D'Addario' s through. They're as taut as a Kardashian' s backside

I started using the Dean Markley Rounds around 1979. I have the NPS on my Ric 4003 and the SR 2000's on my Fender Jazz.
This (only regular lights).
I have tried dozens of strings. I keep coming back to these every time.
Right now I have them on both of my main players (Fender American P5 and Roscoe Beck Sig 5). I have several other basses and some have different strings on them (even a couple with flats) but D'Addario XLs go to the gig every time.
14 years of searching and i found dr lo riders! I love those strings

Total game changer for me. RW user for decades; these strings are so much fun to use that they make me feel as if the sound I was looking for was in this string, as opposed to a particular bass (if that makes any sense). I wish these came out a long time ago, it would've saved me thousands of dollars! Lol

DR Fatbeams are awesome for Motown style rock and slap. Sunbeams for intensive fingerstyle/solo playing and fretless.
I have 4 or 5 brands I use. I go through them in a weekend so when it's all said and done, doesn't really matter to me
DR Sunbeams, baby. My string search ended the day I tried a set of those. Doesn't seem to matter what bass I use them on, it makes all of them sound awesome.
TI-JF 344 Flats. have been mu go to strings since 2007.
But I'm digging the new, Erine Ball Slinky Flats.

Dunlop Super Bright Nickels for rounds and Labella Super Deep Talkin Flats for flats.
I'm another D'Addario XL Nickel kind of guy, I always seem to come back to them. I was also really into the ProSteels for a good while but I think the nickels are just right for me. Honorable mention goes to Dean Markley as well...
As for Dunlop, I tried their standard nickels and they too were replaced by another XL relapse; I'll have to try the Super Brights but no promises because D'Addario's got me hooked

I really like EB super slinky. ive tried some others but come back to these ones. Plus they are ten bucks cheaper than the dr's. I usually change em about once a month though. Love fresh strings!
Stars starve, you know.Dunlops when i'm broke and TI's when i'm broke, but feeling frisky!
