The Houston Juneteenth Blues Festival was always incredible. I saw almost every major blues artist at this fest in the 80s for free.

15 feet from John Lee Hooker playing the gnarliest , most funky distorted guitar you ever heard in your life. And that's before the band joined him.

This became a Thursday thru Sunday event after the first few.

Ray-Bans and popped collars with Levi jean jackets. The sherpa and denim lined jackets came out later, but the OG one was first choice.
Hoby and Redsand t-shirts. Generra made the rad Hypercolor shirts. They were from Seattle.
Mr. Rags sweatshirts and Dirk the Daring.
Excitebike and video game arcades.

Lets see, I was either on the road or building houses in those days. I was on MTV....dont ask, cause I'll never tell, it was the first couple months they were on. I didnt see the video till decades later when youtube came along.

I just remember the show "Married with children" and liking the Grateful Dead, its all kind of a blur. I lived in Florida during those years, I was skinny and had a ponytail. Thats about it
