My first bass was a Parts P Bass, built for Dale Peters of the James Gang. He was the one who sold it to me when I was 14.
Ash body, Maple J neck with Ebony board, Fender Lace Sensor, Schaller tuners.
It was a nice bass and I guess I didn't really appreciate it until it was gone, but I did love the bass for years.
Mainly, the end lesson of that bass was this:
You can change EVERY SINGLE PART on a P bass (I did) and it won't make the same sound as a 2-pickup bass.
So I realized that I don't like a plain old P bass and I probably never will.
But I will always play bass!!!
