Your go to strings

DR Fat Beams here too.
Been using them over 10 years (back when they were the Marcus Miller strings).

To me, they are versatile and have a dynamically different tone & feel from any other string I've tried. I use them on both active (Musicman, ESP) and passive (Duncan loaded Aerodyne) and they seem to really bring out the best in these instruments in different ways.

For rounds my go-to is Rotosound Swing Bass. They have a very nice sound and for me they last quite a long time for rounds. They don’t stay bright forever, but they stay in that middle-zone between bright and dead for quite a long time, at least in my experience.

For flats my go-to is TI Jazz flats. What I love about them is that I’ve only had to go to them once because I’ve kept the same set strung on my MIA P bass for 3 years now and they still sound amazing.

GHS Precision Flats. When I first started playing, the folks at the music shop tried to point me towards the LaBella Deep Talkin' flats, since I was after the Stax sound. However, for my playing style, to my ear, the GHS strings produce more 'thump,' while the LaBellas produce more 'thud.'

When I got my 2014 Am Std P almost 3 yrs ago, I couldn't wait to slap on a set of La Bella flats for the classic thump I had heard so much about. Strangely enough, those La Bellas stayed on there only for 3 mths. After having tried several different sets since, I'm about to try the GHS Precision Flats on it for the first time as of next week. I'm hoping they will stay on there for more than 3 mths. It will be interesting to find out how they compare with the La Bella.

Rotosound 66LD for me, been playing them since the mid 70s and still love them. They sound great (as do most modern strings) and last for ages.
I also use a set of EB Cobalt flats on one bass too but never gigged them yet but have been using them for a couple of songs in practice so soon I think

Every bass sound different with different strings. It's difficult to find the best one without trying all the various possibilities between bass and strings. For me, I like the way my bass sounded with factory EB Super Slinkys.
