Your got-to gauge, and why?

my go-to gauge for years was 45-105. that was all i knew, until i started trying different gauges. now i have light, medium and heavy gauge strings on my basses. i like the flexibility of light gauge strings, but i also like the authoritative tone i get from heavy gauge strings. i've found the trick to being comfortable with heavy gauge for me is set-up, both getting the relief and string height "just right".

Usually round wound 50-105's. Tried rotosound recently and remembered why I changed to D'Addario a few years ago. Can't wait to get them off again.

We currently play I'm drop D (only because I joined after two songs had been written in this tuning and guitars generally stay there) not my choice really.

I'm open to experimenting with lighter sets, cause I never have done but drop D does limit me a bit. Any advice?.........must be extra long scale
