Jays looked good today, for once. Is it just me, or is Janssen the best closer on baseball so far this season? 0.75 ERA, 0.25 WHIP; unreal numbers.

At the end of the five weeks of the season an ace of your staffs record would probably look like this. 4-1, 2.32 ERA, 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings, and 2.1 walks per nine innings.
At this point in the season that is the average of the Tigers top four starters. The Tigers top four (Verlander, Sanchez, Fister, and Schezer) give them the best rotation in the majors, and the number five starter ( Porcello) ain't half bad either. If the bullpen holds up, and no one gets hurt, I can't see anyone else representing the AL in the series.

Up until last week, I would had to have argued very much in favor of Boston. And I still-but not for Boston- will because of the bullpen. Phil Coke/Rondon/Jose Valverde can't possibly work out as the closer. I'm buying Texas right now. Their bullpen is more solid, the starting pitching is nearly as good as is the offense
When did the wheels fall off in Dodgertown? They were at .500 and seemingly on track and suddenly they've lost 8 in a row and are in last place...

I feel so bad for Doc, he has been my favourite pitcher since he was a rookie in Toronto and I think his career is over now. He might be able to reinvent himself, but it is highly unlikely. Although he could learn to throw the knuckleball and he wouldn't have to worry about having the same velocity he has had in the past.

It feels really good as a Pirates fan to look at the standings and see them with a two game lead in the NL Central, and on a nine game winning streak. To cap it off, they have the best record in MLB.
The AL East looks like the best division in baseball, eight game separation from top to bottom, every team .500 or better.

We have to have something to cheer us up at AT&T because the Giants are playing terrible right now. We should be be booing our GM not Beltran he gave up Wheeler to get Beltran for a very short stint Not a good move. At least Posey is hitting
Mets fan here, I think that there is a bright future for this team. We have a lot of young talent that is learning slowly but surely. I really like Dillon Gee right now. He has been contributing a lot since the game against the yankees.
Thank you for continuing your crappy play while staying in LA. Allowing the Dodgers to sweep the series was just what we needed to start feeling good about ourselves again.

I was really happy when Boston took the series from Toronto. Interdivision games count a lot right now in a lot of places- Especially the AL East and NL West right now

As a kid, I remember hurling a rubber ball at one particular cinderblock on the back of the house for hours, then fielding the carom, pretending I was Vernon Law or Elroy Face (Pirates pitchers of the day). I would dream about someday pulling on one of those cool Pirates uniforms. But alas, it was never to be.
It's been a rough 20 years or so since they last had a decent team, so yeah, I'm also enjoying this season. But they happen to be in a Division with St. Louis and Cincinnati, so I'm afraid to voice any optimism out loud (as evidenced by late-season collapses the last couple years). But I AM cautiously optimistic for a change...

You are in the same boat as us Jays fans, last good team was 1993. The umpires won the game for Detroit last night.

Astros anyone?
90% of the reason I hate baseball now.
I still love the Astros. They are on the right path and will be a contender sooner or later. I just hate American League baseball, so Bud Selig took alot of joy out of the game for me by strong arming the Astros into the AL west.
Astros are where the Nationals were 4 or 5 years ago. They will be really good in a few years.

Oh wow, that is awesome. I can remember riding to Three Rivers with my uncles when I was a kid in the 70's for games now and then, but I don't really remember much about the team. I was a wee lad back then, about eight years old.
I am really excited. Wherever it goes from here, the season has been a blast for me so far.
