As long as your considering the Ampeg sound you could also preview an Aguilar Tonehamer500 and on the Eden side of the equation there's the SWR Headlite as well.

Part of the process of elimination for my list was price. So the TC Electronics RH750 and the GB Streamliner 900 were out simply because they are $1K+. Would love to own 'em but GAS funding won't allow it.

The ToneHammer is a consideration, but didn't make it to my final list because I've not seen ANY Aguilar gear in Texas since arriving 7 years ago!

Another consideration was weight. None of these are "heavy", but I'd much rather stuff a 2-5 lbs amp into a gigbag pocket than attempt to stuff a 10 pounder in with a crowbar.

That said, I won't not-try anything! LOL!

BigEarl: FYI (if interested), I have seen brand new Genz Benz Streamliner 900's for sale on the bay for much less than $1k.....more like seven bills.

I don't know about those other heads at all, but like the man said, that MB800 should be an absolute beast. Even the MB500 will work over most speaker cabs easily. But I'm GK all the way to the bank.

Or you can just keep rocking your 800RB. #;>)

In terms of quality of build, customer service, reliability first rate companies I'd go with the Genz or the EA. Oh and I'd look at the shuttle 9.0 rather than the 6. That being said, the EA is very transparent, what you put in is what you will get out -just louder (considerably). The pre of the Genz is a bit more colored. Great if that is the sound you dig. I don't know if you care but the EA is US made - I care about things like that.

I've read about the EA amps being EXTREMELY transparent, which is cool with me. I use American P Basses so I have a certain amount of natural thump, but it may require me to change my Hi-Beams out with flats ...been meaning to try that anyway.
