Your Signature String

Ideas for my "signature string":
  1. Sadowsky Black Label Flatwound, 45-60-80-105.
  2. Fender 9050CL Flatwound, 45-60-80-105.
  3. La Bella 760FL Flatwound, 43-60-82-104.
NOTE: 36.5" winding length, BLACK silk on both ends with GOLD/BRASS (NOT colored!) ball ends for all of the above.

I will cast my vote for Ernie Balls. Picked up a new set of Cobalts that breathed new life into my Fender Jazz American Deluxe V in white blonde. I do have another set of Dunlops Marcus Miller super brights on standby that I am looking forward to trying out. No rush however, currently jamming with the Cobalts and lovin every minute of it !

Are y'all talking about the flats or rounds? I really like the flats but have yet to try the rounds.
The rounds. To me they cut through like nothing else and have feel that I can't quite describe. Not loose but not tight. Just a really musical string and they seem to last a long time. I've heard people report they die quickly so it must have to do with body chemistry. If I had to describe them I'd they sound and feel like if EB Nickel Slinkies and DR Fatbeams had a love child it would be Cobalts.

I do want to try the flats but am hesitant to spend the money on another string experiment. I'm happy with the round cobalts.

Round core stainless steel with a short taper on the B string. .130 .105 .080 .060 .045. Midrangey and not too bright. Two wrap E string. Think of a cross between the not too bright DR Hi Beams and Fodera Stainless Steel strings with the midrange characteristics of Dunlop Super Brights and DAddario Flexsteels... with silk ends. Meant to get the best sound possible on any fretless bass.
