Will the 250 be a problem if I'm using it with a scarlett interface and omni ir loader? They are on sale at prymax, so they'd be delightful if they worked well.

I've had my trusty Sony MDR-V6 headphones literally for decades. I've had to replace the ear cushions a few times, but it been reliable and sounds great. I believe the modern day equivalent is the MDR7506.

It took some experimenting for me to find headphones that won't rattle or distort when playing bass. AKG K240 is what I arrived at. There are others as mentioned.

Headphones with more than 50 Ohms probably need amplification or they'll be too quiet. Am I right?

I've been using Seenheiser HD380s for tracking. They sound good but they come with an annoying curly cord that i had to replace and like all Sennheiser headphones the earpads fall apart quickly.

I'd like to upgrade but all I can do is plug into my Scarlett 2i2, i don't want a dedicated headphone amp. What's the max Ohm rating before I need a headphone amp?

Sony MDR-7506, been using them everyday for years. have other good ones, but they don't ever get grabbed. Did change the pads to fleece ones after the originals wore out, better

Sony MDR7506 is my favorite and i own some more expensive cans. To me, they are like an SM58 or a P bass. Nothing fancy or high end , but they are used all over the place because of simple effectiveness.

I keep seeing ATH-M50 headphones mentioned in threads. I have a set of
ATH-M45 and they are the most anemic, bass -deficient cans ever. While I can't speak for the 50s, do not get the 45s if they even still make them. I'm surprised that there could be that much difference between the two. Regardless, I would suggest AKG K240 Studio instead. Bass is nice and round. Not expensive, either.

I have the Sennheiser 280 Pro and Sennheiser HD 650. After hearing the difference I put the 280s in a drawer.

In my case the less expensive Sennheiser that was very disappointing was the HD 569, but I've never heard the better ones.

for mixing, you want something that isn't hyped, because hyped does not equal accurate, and accuracy is critical for mixing and monitoring. So the real question is whether or not you can get one set of phones that's going to meet all your requirements. I'd say mixing/monitoring and what most people perceive as good bass response* are mutually exclusive, unless by "good" you mean "accurate."

I’ve been using some Sony MDR-7506 headphones which I like ok, but my son has taken them over for playing drums. Just bought a pair of Phil Jones Bass Headphones H-850. A friend said they’re pretty good for jamming along to tunes and playing. Anyone with experience with these? I can provide feedback Sunday if they arrive.

ATHM-50's for my multi-effects pedals, my newly acquired Pioneer DJ-HDJ-X7's for my keys
boards via mixer and also for recording. DJ's run about $200, but well worth it, IMO - great along the total frequency range, excellent bass response.

Hasn’t been a problem for me. I’ve plugged them into a variety of audio sources (including a Focusrite Scarlett) and not had any problems.

I've been very satisfied with the Shure SRH-440. Reasonably flat, good all around closed back headphones imo. Can easily be found for under $100.

A friend of mine in the radio field got me hooked on the Sony MDR-7506 about 15 years ago. I "upgraded" to the MDR-7510 a few years back but never liked them as well. I just visited the Sony site and see that they've discontinued the 7510 (+7520) but the MDR-7506 is still going strong.
