Your top 3 Paul McCartney Basslines?

With A Little Help From My Friends
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
Lovely Rita

Agreed, three is too few.

I can't pick 3. Every time I try, I get frustrated. But it's hard to argue with these 3. ^ I love all of them.

A few more I've always loved:

O Darling
Come Together
Obla Di, Obla Da (Simple, yet very catchy!)
I Want You (She's So Heavy) (^ Same as above)

Runner Up:
Getting Better is interesting mostly because of the way McCartney treats the choruses.... It isn't an arpeggiation of the chords, but rather it is a melodic figure that descends through the chords - and because it is also the bass line, it changes the way we hear the chords in this passage. It's a very classical-esque contrapuntal bass line.

Getting Better was probably my runner up, too. Outstanding playing.

Getting better
Taxman
Come Together

and dozens of others.

I remember getting my first quality stereo system in the early 70's, putting on my Beatles records and having my world rocked by Sir Paul's extraordinary playing. I ran out and got a Ric, and the rest is history...:hyper:

Pick only 3!? It can't be done...too...many...great..basslines...oh the humanity!
Well,ok,Coming up,goodnight tonite,my brave face for some post-Beatles choices....not necessarily all that complicated, but the bass parts really help make the songs.
But really ....all of them!

Abbey Road - the whole album is a bass masterpiece (Something, Here Comes The Sun, Mean Mister Mustard, I Want You (she's so heavy) ... Maxwell's Silver Hammer ... )
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Paul often laid down some of his best lines on John and George's songs.

I've enjoyed reading all the opinions and discussions. I'm at the stadium and Paul comes on in a few hours! We're at the stadium grill/ bar and they're playing all Beatles songs and the whole place is singing along. Good times!
