Double Bass youtube orchestra

Colin coaches my Youth orchestra, and I get to see him play frequently in the RPO, and he's fantastic! I think he will be a great bassist if he wins a spot in the Youtube Orchestra bass section. But I do agree, it takes a bunch of great musicians to make a great orchestra, not just one fantastic bassist (or bass section, because right now the bassists look pretty good!).

Just because of Colin? He's no doubt a terrific bass player, but one person doesn't make an orchestra great. Looks like there are other good players trying out for the bass section, too, but has anyone taken a look at the other sections?

there are other professional quality bassist that posted their videos. i pointed out Colin cause he is a beast (had the best audition i thought,) and i was glad to hear he got the deadline. This fellow, www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJA6VZ83zuw&feature=channel is part of the San Antonio Symphony, and has undoubted skills, the same with a couple others. I was just pleased to see Colin was a legal participant.

you could have downloaded the score and/or parts for any instrument from youtube before the deadline, but it looks like they may have taken that option down...

one thing i wonder about the carnegie hall performance is whether the orchestra will just be playing the Tan Dun piece or if there will be some major symphonic work as well. Having applied, I'm hoping there's more than just the Tan Dun...

I'm pretty sure they are going to do a more classical work to accompany the Tan Dun symphony... It was mentioned in one the the videos I saw, but I don't know which one, so I can't say for sure.
