Sounds nice!

I found out on Monday that I got in to Law School at the University of Stockholm (capital of Sweden), and I'm thinking of treating myself to a new bass.

I've been eyeing the Sonus Special 5 in the classifieds, but what I really need right now is an upright.

It's just a shame that for the same money I could get the Zon for, I'll get a half-decent beginners upright, like a Czech Strunal-made one, not including Bow, Resin, Pickup, Case etc.
And because I'm moving halfway across the country, I'll also need a MacBook, some furniture, broadband/cable-TV, cutlery/plates/glasses etc. The list of what I'll need is not exactly short...

Anyhow, I eagerly await the soundclips!

Those DRs havn't arrived yet, so I cut a few for you with the labella HRS tuned down a whole step. Had to adjust my positioning from how I usually play these things, so the playing may be a bit spotty

First clip is a little me'shell lick first in my favorite blend setting favoring the neck pickup slightly, then in the even blend mode (which it seems like people avoid with this model, but it does sound cool, just a little scooped).

Next up, its a little chic with two different blend settings. Felt really wierd to play this out of open position, but it shows off the growl of the special nicely.

B string groove. I mean, pleeeeeeeeze how tight is this thing? Remember this is tuned down a whole step, played from the first position. So thats actually a Bb on the bottom

I can't believe that Bb is coming from a 34" bass! All the clips really sound amazing. The sound when the pickups are mixed even is exactly like I expected it to be.

Oh, and BTW, do you have a 2- or 3-band EQ on the bass? Because I imagine that you'd really be able to crank up the growl/punch even more with the 3-mode Mid control.

Two band EQ, just left flat. I don't like forcing mids from a preamp, personally ... I'd rather adjust the blend if I need more mids.

I'm kinda thinkin this bass might sound great passive.
