Zoom B3 As Preamp Part 2

With short cable runs there should be no difference connecting the B3 to the mixer either by 1/4" or XLR.

Cheers!
Great, thanks. It's mainly for home studio stuff and recording jams with the boys, so no long cables are needed.

Since
I've been using the B3 as a preamp with a little Crown 1000 power amp, life has cchanged, and my back thanks you sincerely for these threads, which I've read in their entirety.
Great work Charlie, and everyone else who has contributed.

Thanks for the high-praise, @TheIndieKid, a lot of folks besides me helped to make this thread what it is ;)

Glad you like your B3 and I myself cannot wait for a B5n, B4 or whatever else Zoom has in the wings for the next wave.

I highly suggest a full thread read-through at some point when you are able, but until then I will share my favorite patch again below.

You will need to tweak the MIX and EQ on the SVT sim to make it work for your equipment, but don't be afraid to further experiment!

Cheers!

This patch is awesome Charlie! I've been giving it some test runs. Do you have any more like this?

With actual headphones connected to the B3, simply use a GLOBAL value that is a notch or two below hearing loss ;)

For all intents and purposes, the GLOBAL is simply the volume of your headphones and YMMV.

Cheers!
Can I also use 100% cabinet emulation with headphones? Also, is the BB Pre gain is at 10 out of 100 because of hot output basses? Sorry I'm just trying to know the ins and outs so I can create my own patches.

All settings are open to customization and are what they are in that patch for my personal taste and equipment.

Really you won't break anything, just have fun and play bass.

Hi Charlie!

I'm creating a patch right now but I'm not using an amp model. I want to just my combo amp and create one patch for a dirty tone and one for a clean tone. I'll run one with the ZNR, Booster and a third effect (undecided but I'll explain), and the dirty patch with ZNR, BB Pre and the third effect. I'll use your settings for the ZNR, Booster and BB Pre, but I was going to ask if the Graphic or Para EQ is a good third effect? If so what settings would you advise? I like the ide a of they growly, biting EQ a Rick has. Many thanks

Sorry, Indie, I will have to pass on this question and kindly open it to any others who may have an answer for you.

Just bought a laptop both Windows 10, I haven't even turned it on yet. Just checking to see if there was any issues before getting started.
Aha, I see. I installed Win 10 on my home studio PC and have to say I haven't run into issues, neither with DAWs or any of my audio interfaces (no annoying driver problems). Microsoft seems to have done a pretty good job on Win 10, finally.
