Zoom b3 patch Ideas

Very cool! That LP (Flowers) was one of my very very first exposures to rock when I was a VERY little guy, I still love almost every song on that record. I always thought the Stone's arrangement of "My Girl" was a cool one. The other tune I liked on that record was "Out of Time". I bet Bill Wyman was using that crazy egg shaped Vox about that time, you know?

I think I might break that record out and see what patch I can come up with! I'd love to see your set list! Best of luck.

I've designed my patches to be in parity with my dry bass level. I've found that setting the Level of effect and the Total Patch Level at 100 was way too hot. Lowering the levels to 50% (75 and 60, respectively) seemed to do the trick.

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch is a modified version of the gk fusion patch.

Section 1: m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 5, level: 100, attack: 7

Section 2: t-scream: gain: 5, tone: 70, level: 100, balance: 25

Section 3: g-krueger: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: 2, midfq: 250hz, gain: 45, level: 100, color: off, cab: ha4x10, mix: 50

My "old school" patch meant to comp the feel of the old 2x15 days. This is kind of a handy patch for a lot of classic rock, esp pre-70 stuff. This is my "Lo Fi" rock patch. Tweak your compression to your tastes.
#1 (Splitter): Hi 0, Lo 28, freq 250Hz, Level 100
#2 (MComp): THRSH 29, Ratio 5, ATTCK 5, Level 100

Hey, I have a request. I'm a total bonehead with effects so I hope this isn't too hard.

I'm in love with this bassist's overdrive tone.



Another one of their videos shows her pedal board.

In that KEXP video I linked to above, she only has her MF Drive, a cheap jazz, and an Ashdown rig.

My kids just got me a Zoom B1 Four. I've been trying to cop that overdrive tone, but can't get close at all. And those MF Drive pedals are $250 which is way out of my range.

Help!

That's a rather bizarre band. other than that, an xotic bass bb model should do the trick. try these setting.

m comp: thresh: 20, ratio: 5, level: 90, attack: 5

bass bb: gain: 20, bass: 4, treble: -3, blend: 50, level: 75

monotone: bass: 4, mid: 3, treble: -2, midfq: 400hz, gain: 45, char: flat, cab: ag1x15 mix: 50

If you're using this live in front of an amp, you might wanna disengage the amp model cause it will most likely will sound boxy. but if it's for an ampless gig or recording, then you can use the amp model with it. hopefully this helps you out on getting that sound you're looking for.

I've just got myself a Zoom B3. I'm in fact a guitar player, but started playing bass in a cover band a year ago. The point is, I've got some questions regarding the unit, perhaps you can help me.
1. Is there a wat to bypass the unit? I.e., if I've got a patch with two sounds and want them to turn them off at the same time (leaving nothing but my direct sound on my amp), how it would be done? By pressing both switches at the same time?
2. I've seen a lot of patches here and for what I've read they sound pretty good. Would they sound the same if I take the preamp out? I guess not, but the thing is I play always through my amp (a GK MB112) with a Jazz Bass and really like the sound of it. Or can I use the preamp over the amp?
3. This is the last one, I swear! Do you have aby patch that sounds similar to McCartney's bass sound on Beatles (the Hoffner)? I've found something similar using only the acoustic pedal and boosting it a bit with the exciter, but I was just goofing around with the pedal and getting used to it.

Try this for #3; this is my "Macca" patch.

Jazz bass: both pups dimed, tone @ 2-3
Amp EQ fairly flat, bass 2, mid 2.5, treble 2

Position #1: B-Man: gain 52, bass 0, mid -2, 300Hz, treble -1, deep (off), level 60, cab (orgn), mix 100
Position #2: 160Comp: trhsh -22, ratio 4.0, gain 6, knee (hard), level 64
Position #3: ZNR: thrsh 10, detect EfxIn, Level 79
