Zoom b3 patch Ideas

He guys,

i recently bought a a zoom b3 and i'm loving it.

I was just wondering if anyone has a patch that resembles the bass sound of R U Mine? from the latest arctic monkeys album?
It just has this little bit of distortion. I've been trying but i can't seem to get it!

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Try this one:

A) ZNR 1)Thrsh:10 , Detct:EfxIn , Level:100


B) DI+ 1) Bass:3 , Mid:2 , Trebl:2
2) Gain:10 , Blend:100 , Level:120
3)Color: on , Chan: Dist

C) Opt Comp 1) Drive:4 , Tone:58 , Level:77.

Don't know the tone of the bass you mention but this is good overdrive to my ears,maybe feeds your needs.
If you prefer turn the gain of DI+ to zero.It steels overdrives there if your bass is hot output one.After the 30 gain the overdrive became a distortion.

The B3 has 3 envelope filters on already that are modeled on existing pedals so you probably won't be able to emulate an MXR if it isn't on there. Its like saying how can I make my Boss ODB3 sound like a big muff.

Just play with them and see what you can find that you like. Some of the synths have envelope filter in them, like the v-synth (I think).

The trend I've noticed is Zoom doesn't have any MXR style pedals other than the DI+?

There's a DynaComp modeler in there for sure.

There is the vintage flanger as well, thats modeled on the MXR. Also the Fuzz Face, now manufactured by Dunlop who owns MXR.

Great Thread, Thanks for all the ideas and tones! the B3 is an awesome little tool to have! Could anyone help me with a song tone? My band and I are covering Jenny Was a Friend of Mine- The Killers. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

It's been a while since I've posted some new patch ideas. so here's a new one I came up with. this patch duplicates the warm punchy sounds of a hartke lh500.

LH500

Section 1: znr: thresh:18, detect:gtrln, level:90

section 2: bottom b: bass:4, treble:5, level:50

Section 3: hartke: bass:3, mid:5, treble:4, midfq:400hz, tube:50, level:57, comp: 2, cab: e4x10, mix:50

Here's another patch idea I came up with. this patch duplicate the hartke kilo bass head.

Kilo bass

Section 1: graphic eq: adjust settings to your liking

Section 2: bassdrive: bass:2, treble:3, presence: 2, gain:45, level:70, mid: 4

Section 3: hartke: bass:3, mid:5, treble:4, midfq:350hz, tube:50, level:57, comp: 2, cab: e4x10, mix:50

Here's a new patch idea I came up with. this patch duplicates the smooth warm distorted sounds of a carl martain bass drive.

Warm distortion 3

Section 1: limiter: thresh:25, ratio:4, level:90, release:4

Section 2: bass bb: gain:18, bass:4, treble:-5, blend:25, level:75

Section 3: svt: bass: 3, mid: 5, treble: 4, midfq: 350hz, gain: 50, level: 59, ultra: low, cab: ac1x18, mix: 50

Downloaded OzzyGreg's Rickenbacker 4001 focused patch and tried it with my 4001 & ABZ5.

After blowing the dust off the Ric, and plugging headphones into the B3, the patch (unaltered) sounded good with the 4001! I wish I could say the same for the sounds emanating through the headphones! (muscle memory wasn’t cooperating nor was the bass — needs a setup).

Switched to the Dingwall and after tweaking the patch a bit, it sounds fairly close to the real deal!

A big shout out to OzzyGreg for doing the heavy lifting!

Am I doing something wrong? As I live in a flat I have to plug headphones to my b3. So everytime I set a patch, the setings doesn't come out from the amp/cab as I heard them from the headphone... any suggestion how to fix this?

The speakers and housing of the headphones and amp are different.
So, they will not sound the same. Bumping up the mid treble, treble section of your amps eq will help, also if the cab has a tweeter use that as well.
I make recording patches with the headphones
And live patches for my amp.

After may sleepless nights "tweaking" my B3, I have given up trying to get the Muse UPRISING sound.
Can anyone help me ?

Use a Jazz bass.
Compressor (your choice but would suggest the 160) (EDIT - 160 not the 360 as previously stated)
Bass Big Muff, good amount of clean blend 60 - 65ish, tone just below 50, gain 60 - 75.
Ampeg flat settings except mid boost 800hz, speaker sim mix depends if you use headphones, amp or powered speakers.
