Zoom b3 vs. iOS sound quality live, macbook better?

I searched the forums but didn't find an answer exactly.

I am deciding to go B3 or iOS i.e. and was wondering which produced better quality effects. I have both an iphone and macbook and was also wondering if there were any advantages of macbook usb ibterface vs. iphone with interface.

My main concern is controlled over the natural tone of my bass as I (stingray bass) will be running through 1001rb and 4x10 cab.

The B3 is fantastic and is quite flexible having so many effects. iOS/Mac may be limited in effects selection for the respective apps/programs, plus I would be worried about potential latency issues with a laptop. (awhile back I played through a couple different iPad effects apps and didn't hear much latency there...)

The amp sims on the B3 and other current Zoom offerings are from very good to excellent IMO. While IOS devices are certainly really good I have reservations trying to use them live, I prefer something robust in design like the Zoom B3 or MS60b, I have the same reservation over the plastic Zoom pedals but will admit that my oldies and Zoom G1x have never let me down. I do use an IOS device for soft synths in my studio and know several keyboard players that use them live.

I own both, use both. Have no doubt: iOS sound quality depends on the DAW/FX processor you use. But good VSTs will allways win the B3, fantastic drives, convolution reverbs, limitless routing..

It all depends on your soundcard/CPU latency and the price difference, but have no doubt: A computer can sound better than a B3, just no so easy to set up :)
