I did came up with some creative patches on my korg ax3000b. considering that I play metal, I did came up with some distortion patches(two of them duplicates well known distortion pedals). also I came up with clean chorus patches, and I came up with some useful rocking sounds that can also be used in metal. if you like me to share some of those patches, I can do that.

also if there's particular sounds you want to duplicate on the ax5b(that is if you own one), I will do my best helping you duplicate those sounds. youtube clips would help out too. I once helped out a talkbass member on trying to duplicate certain sounds on the ax5b and need some assistance on how to duplicate them. he did post youtube clips on curtain sounds he want to duplicate on the ax5b and I helped him out with that.

Both the ax3b and the ax5b have cab models. they're on the section next to the amp/drive section. so the website should not be wrong when they say it has cab models. I would know because I had a korg ax3b before upgrading to the korg ax3000b. the owner's manual will tell you what cab models it has.

I bought the AX3B today, after thinking about it and realising im not gonna use the expression pedal much. It's pretty good, like the wah, synths are also pretty good. Compressor doesn't seem to do much, and neither do the amp/cab models. But then again, i AM using it through a 15 watt, 8 inch practice amp. When I get a hold of my Five Fifteen i hope it'd sound better. All i can hear now is clipping. It would sound better, right?

lol, I'd pretty much say the exact opposite about my AX5b. I got the expression pedal for the pitch shift and being able to have adjustable delays, both vital to the pedal. I would also disagree with the compressor if it's the same one as the ax5b. both the limiter and the compressor actually sound pretty good to me, as do the models, though I don't use them. I actually hear the most difference in tone when I'm using my practice amp or direct into the mixer and not so much with my rig. I dunno, I seem to have the opposite experience as you. Never had clipping though, maybe yours is f'd?

My amp's stuffed, I cranked it up at a school concert (I had to so the 300 odd people could hear), and now it clips at half volume. A couple questions: does it have a phaser and are all the programs meant to already have effects programmed, or is it just that 40 of them are re-writable? Can I use my sound voucher now Crystalman85? I'd like a nice warm, trebly Ric sound, most of the sounds on the 3B are thumpy, also tell me the amp settings I need. Thanks guys

The korg ax3b has 2 phaser effects. one on the pre-effects section and another on the modulation section. only the first 40 patches are programmable. the other 40 is not programmable. I hate to ask a stupid question, but is a sound voucher a sound card on a mixing board? if it is, you can use your sound voucher. I understand you want to get a rickenbacker sound. I've recently was on my korg ax3000b and try to duplicate that sound. here's what I came up with.

Pre-effects: exciter: freq:78%, type:1, effect:72%

Amp model: valve2: vol.:78%, mid freq:3, bass:50%, mid:25%, treble:54%

Cab model: 810 classic or 410 la

Noise reduction: 92%, Program level: 80%

I'm not quite sure if you can get the same results of a ric sound with this setting, but give it a try.

As requested by wetzelman1, Here's a few patches that I created on my korg ax3000b. these patches in particular are for those who play hard rock and heavy metal and like to use distortion on bass.

Here's a patch that duplicates the gutsy-drive sound of an ebs multi-drive tube distortion pedal.

Pre-effect: exciter: freq: 50%, type:2, effect: 78%

Drive model: tube overdrive: vol.:80%, gain: 80%, direct: 50%, tone:89%

Cab model: 410 metal(if you want a bright, punchy sound) or 410 modern(if you want a warmer, but punchy sound)

Noise reduction: 87%, program level: 84%


Here's a patch I created that duplicates the heavy grind sound of an mxr bass d.i+.

Pre-effects: exciter: freq: 50%, type:2, effect: 80%

Drive model: fat distortion: vol.:78%, gain:75%, direct: 50%, tone:87%

Cab model: 410 modern

noise reduction:87%, program level: 87%

The phaser on the modulation section is f4. this phaser is a duo phaser. a duo phaser is a phaser that has 2 speed controls, a depth control, and a resonance control. this particular phaser has the same controls as the bi-chorus effect.
