I'm still doing a fair amount of session work in LA, teaching part time at LA College of Music (I created their fretless course) and some live work, schedule permitting. Recently toured with Bill Cobham & Randy Brecker. Also just recorded a new instrumental record for John Tesh (featuring Andrew Synowiec on guitar)

I'm on the verge of buying a Fender Rumble 800HD. Good reviews from what I've seen and heard via You Tube. One thing is niggling me though and doesn't seem to be mentioned... there's no cooling fan on the rear of the Rumble. Surely it's going to get too warm and shut off?

From my experience, it doesnt have any cooling problems , as long as you let it have an air gap around it like any other amp. I ran it last summer for a 3-hour set in the summer heat and it didn't give me any issues at all. At the same time, you don't have to run it super high on the volume for it to be "loud enough" for most stages, so it doesn't produce a lot of heat.

I've had mine for about 2 years now and it's been dead reliable and plenty loud for any venue with just the 1x15"; if you have a bigger cab setup, like I do now with my Traynor TC810, it'll be loud enough for your stage volume basically anywhere without breaking a sweat.

It is really devastating to learn that Tom Kirk, AKA the harp unstrung, has passed away. He was one of my favourite users on TalkBass, and his presence is greatly missed by everybody.

Hi! This is my first post about my first bass! I bought this on marketplace for $125 with the goal of taking it apart, cleaning it up and putting it back together. The brand is Alcivar MIJ P bass. I've been digging around for more info on this bass with not so much luck. Curious if there's anyone here who can give me some background info, value, quality of this bass.
