Chicago bassist Jauqo III-X commissioned this bass from Pat Wilkins back in 2006. It was jointly designed by Jauqo and Pat and it's truly "one of a kind". It sports a custom designed 18 volt Audere active preamp with 8 different Z-Mode switching options. It actually has "Jauqo Custom" printed on the outside of the preamp. This bass can give you just about any tone you can imagine and then some.......
The playability is excellent with a VERY low action and no fret buzz or fret wear. The electronics all function as they should with no scratchy pots. The bass is lightweight and VERY comfortable to play. The neck has a modern flattened D shape that feels effortless in your left hand. It's a pleasure to play and it has more tonal options than an Alembic without breaking your back. Gotta love that!
When I first got this bass I spoke with Pat about it and he told me he no longer builds this model because it cost too much to make. He said this one originally sold for over $4K and he was barely making a profit even at that price.
The only change I made to the bass was to remove the Hipshot Xtender key that is pictured in the headstock photos and replace it with a matching regular style Hipshot tuning machine.
