does this ever happen to you? Occaisionally,I'll set something on top of my amp and bad things will happen to it as I begin to play. I had one incident where I set an unopened doctor pepper on my amp,and played tom sawyer,then I opened the doctor pepper.needless to sAy,hilarity ensued and I had to clean up a lot of doctor pepper.I've broken coffee mugs,glasses,vibrated other amps off the top of it,and even caused screws near my amp(like screws hanging up pictures) to vibrate loose because of my bass playing. I knocked over my two six stringers with my amp before too. I'm wondering if you guys have any stories of destroying things with your amp?I seem to have more than most people.

It's not necessarily the fact that it was on the amp that broke it, but I've set things up on my cabs that rattle off and after the 5 foot fall and hitting the ground I've broke a few things. Cell phones are good for this.
When I got my first "big" amp (peavey tnt115) when I was in middle school, I wanted to see how loud it would get. My mom happened to be in the shower at the time (downstairs ... my bedroom was upstairs), and apparently all the soap/shampoo bottles fell off the shelves into the shower. Ooops!
At a gig a long time ago, we played at a club that had a fireplace at the back end of the band room.
The mantle of the fireplace had glass ashtrays stacked on it, probably around a hundred of them.
Loud metal band, you can guess what happened. Every single one of those ashtrays vibrated off the mantle, shattering on the floor below.
The club owner wasn't amused.

I nearly broke my in-ear monitor pack by putting it on my 810 during soundcheck... won't make that mistake again.

We were playing a private party, outdoors, end of October, and it was dumping rain and cold. I'm wedged in between the table saw and the ATV in this amazingly packed garage. There's a big bonfire out in the yard, but too far away to keep warm.
My hip flask rattled off the amp, and sprung a leak when it hit the ground. Some of my Caol Ila leaked out. I smelled it in time to avert a complete disaster, but I was badly shaken.
I keep the new flask in my pocket.

Played through a huuuuge Kustom amp straight out of the 70's at an old band practice in a big warehouse / shed thing.
Let out an open E just cause and the neighbor came knocking saying that I made something fall off his windowsill. Awesome.

I once set my week old bubbler on top of a half stack, which I later bumped into, causing the bubbler to fall to the ground and shatter.
For these very reasons, I learned my lesson a long time ago - nothing goes on top of my speakers except the amp and rack, of course.
Huge pet peeve of mine is when someone sets a beverage on my amp. Even worse is when someone argues with you about it (ahem ... singers).

I'm with ya on that one. I have a VERY strict "no drinks on my gear" rule. Without fail a singer will put his drink dangerously close the PA rack, or on my amp.
And they always look at you like you're nuts when you say something about it.
One time I was playing at a party and plugged into another player's rig. He had been playing a passive J; I had a Modulus Quantum 5. Sometime during my set, his head fell off the top off the speaker cabinet! I felt terrible.
Fortunately, there was no damage done. It was a GK head on top of those old lightweight Ampeg cabs. When I told him what happened, he said, "Don't worry about it...it's not the first time."
I don't usually set much on top of my bass rig now. I have enough trouble with my tuner pedal trying to walk off of the top of my cabinets!

A few years ago, the Black Russian that was sitting on top of my amp tipped over from the vibrations and dripped vodka and Kahlua onto the volume pot of my handheld recorder. I didn't realize what had happened until the next day, and by that point the alcohol had evaporated and left a big sticky mess around the pot. It wouldn't turn at all. I had the pot replaced and the recorder works fine now, but I learned my lesson and bought one of these:

Sorta - I was testing for the appropriate lowness and loudness of a recent addition and rehab. The rig was up against a wall in the band room. It was a 2-15 cab and matching 220 watt head. I was sitting in a chair to be right in front of the speakers make EQ adjustments. So, I'm just thumping away, and all of a sudden, a commotion began and then something cracked me in the head. The wall clock that was mounted pretty high up the wall right above where the rig was sitting had vibrated off of its mounting and cracked my head and the bass head. Actually left a little cut on me. 
Yep. I used to own an Ampeg Isovent cab. It had two 10's up top and two 15's mounted facing each other in the bottom. At the time I lived in an apartment building that was brand new. The only people living in it were me (downstairs) and two skin head rappers (who woulda thought) upstairs. They kept "practicing" when I was trying to get some rest off the road. So one day I fired up the Ampeg (with SVT II head) and gave it all I had. I never heard from them again. I was told two days later by a friend of theirs that I had shaken a bunch of stuff off the walls and off of their shelves. I even shook some big skull candle thingy off of their fridge and it broke into a thousand pieces. That makes me smile every time I think about it.
