I just noticed 2 Ritter Jupiter copies being sold on eBay. There doesn't appear to be a name on the headstock. The basses haven't been copied exactly because the Jupiter is normally strung through the end of the body. These just have a bridge. Also, the copies only have a humbucker. Jens uses a quadbucker pickup. The headstock shape is not quite right, especially the red one.
This poses a credible danger of a person forging Ritter's name and selling fakes to people unfamiliar with these instruments at a drastic markup. Yes, this is already happening with other instruments. However, in this case, a person stands to be scammed out of a considerable amount of money. An unfamiliar buyer could be tricked out of several thousands, if you loosely base it on the prices of actual Ritters. For example, Ritter's 6-string Jupiter is listed at 6956 EUROs, which at the exchange rate at this moment in my currency, equals just under $10,000. Not exactly pocket change.
A convenient time to start copying this model, since Phil Lesh's Eye of Horus model went into The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History a few months ago.
Another thought hit me... This may be the same manufacturer responsible for the fake Roya 7-string Guitar Center sold to someone last year. TB caught it, advised GC and they sold it anyway.
