Randy, I am far removed from the original owner, but George has confirmed that this was a customer specified order nearly 27 years ago (and it truly does thunder!)

Crikey, I didn't even notice the pups! I was just admiring the finish on the beautiful woodgrain and contemplating the unusual 4-string nature of the beast. No matter how many 4-str Fbasses I see, in my mind's eye the name conjures a 5-str and I wonder should I ever be able to afford (as in play well enough to justify purchasing), would I get a 4 or 5?

I did notice, also, that it looked "Broken In", in a good way. A great way, in fact. It looks old, but is still in "mint" condition. The headstock gives it that vibe. Twenty-seven years, and it's got the exact pup config I'd like: humbucker-P-J...

Please edjumacate me on the bridge; Kahler?

Ha! What good eyes you have, Feral Feline! That is indeed a Kahler vibrato or tremelo bridge... Somewhat of a rare sight on a bass guitar!

Well, I know I don't have to prove myself to my many friends on this thread, but here is a closeup of the date stamp underneath the j-pup... 10-09-87 October-09-1987 Technically 26.5 years old this month... so almost 27 years!
