A NEW T-40?

So I like Peavey's new stuff,
they have some nice basses and some nice amps. I've came across the T 40, but never played one, they look nice and sound nice, but does Peavey make NEW ones? Also, can someone explain the knobs and switches?

The last "new" Peavey T-40 came off the production line long before you were born.

Save up then and get something that will suit you well. You can get a lot more bass often times when you buy used.

You can still find T-40's from the early 80's in nearly new condition for short dough.

The fact is that when it comes to basses youre going to get far better deals in the used market. Id really consider trying to let your dad know what a crap shoot buying new can be (not that used is always a ghood route, just make sure to buy from a well known person who has feedback). Heck, let him read this thread if it helps.

Tell your dad that buying used means that you do not take the price hit for being the first owner. You get a better bass for your money, and should you not like it, you can sell it for a much lower loss than a new one.

It would be if it didn't weigh a ton like the originals. I'd love to have a T40 that I could play without a chiropractor.

Well on that logic tell your dad you're looking for a new dad, and if he say whats wrong with the me, and with a look of bemusement on your face. tell him "but new is better....isn't it????

Ya it is like those basses were made out of solid rock or lead. Maybe a basswood or alder body with a figured maple top.

From what I can recall, T-40's listed around $375 new back in the olde days. You can still pick up near mint examples for a good deal less than that.

My 16 year old bass playing son has discovered the wisdom of dear old dad and this very same idea.

He now is in love with his old Peavey's and Ibanez relics.

I love heavy basses, they feel indestructible and I like how deep they usually are.

I'd be surprised if anyone paid list price back then (or now). There have been lots of T-40 threads w/prices on here in the last year. Happy hunting!
