MARKBASS 4x6 cab aka. NY 604

Hi guys!

I've just came across with this tiny cab. Next week I'm going to order a MarkBass Little Mark II head, and for this amp I'm looking for some cab. This looks fine to me. I intend to buy two of them to get the 4 Ohm load and the full 500 w power! :) Has some of you one of this cabs? Any experiences? How does it sound, would it be a great combination with the LittleMark? If you've got a pic of it in real life I would be happy to see it! :) I play in a hard rock band, would it be plenty? What do you think?

Thanks

Try B4 you buy. I have a feeling that although the cone area is that of a single 12, it won't be as loud as that per watt of power. That was my experience with Phil Jones-amazing tone but less volume per watt than large drivers.

I think the release has been delayed - still not on GC site. The minimark combo - with only two of those little drivers - has no right to sound as loud and low as it does. Louder with just the two 6" than several 1x12s I've owned

A friend of mine's in London atm ( & involved in the 'seroius' music scene) & tried BOTH the micromark- 2x6" & the 4x6" NY604. at some trade night, ...he said that altho they sounded nice- both farted out at a pretty low level. The 2x6" combo (micromark) he said was only good 4 bedroom prac. or maybe an acoustic trio-> poss. just loud enough 4 cafe gigs. Said the NY604 was great sounding, but powered by a LMII -the amp made it 'fart out" (over excurse is it??) at pretty low volumes again & ssaid he'd NOT be happy using it at ANYTHING more than a acoustic cafe gig. 2 of them I know NUTHING..... so " rouse rouse" out & check 'em. I'd be going for at LEAST 2 of 'em or really sumthin far larger/more cone area, The LMII is a darn loud amp- thru my 4 ohm NV215 it RAWKS LOUD-seriously!!!!! As it does thru my 2 GS Aggie cabs(4ohm load). I'd wanna cab that CAN handle the LMII's power 4 sure!! All IMO tho

Mine never fart out, the Minimark I have has been awesome sounding, and keeps ups with both drummers I play with. Is your buddy using an active bass with the bass cranked, per chance?

I tried one with a F1, and was impressed. Great sounding cab, very even and not thin at all. Pretty loud too, much louder than the MB 12" at about the same size. But IMO its not loud enough for a rock`n roll band as a stand alone. All in all this cab was better than I expected.

Just picked up one of these cabs for a rehearsal/practice cab. I went to the local GC to try out a couple other MB products and ended up walking out with this. It sounded very, very good with a LMII in the store but at home with my SD800 it sounds GREAT! Very even response, very punchy and handles the lows (yes even the B string on my Skjolds) with surprising ease. It can also get pretty darn LOUD too! Clearly the cab has its limitations; it is what it is...but for its size and weight it really puts out some good volume. I've had it cranked up a few times and I've never had it fart out at all.
I'm very impressed with it and I have to tell you how nice it was to one hand this little cube out to the car and into the house.
I think a pair of them could easily do most gigs. Nice job Markbass!
Just my $.02 as usual.

A friend just got one today. Checking it out at the "clubhouse" with a 96 Fender Jazz Deluxe V, MTD 635 and my Brubaker TC Custom 6 it was very impressive. Drove it with an F1, no problem even with the low B. Tried it with a couple of other cabs (a 1x15 and a 1x12) and it should easily hang on one of my gigs. Impressed so far. Two should be pretty sweet.

IMO and that of several of our artists, this cabinet seems to really like the F1/F 500. Our digital power amp heads seem to be a better match for this cabinet.
And it works really well if you stack two of them for a 4 ohm load.

I recently received a pair of these for review, and I must say, they really do sound great with the F500 (and the Studio Pre 500). The tone is a little more warm, round, and organic than I had expected (and a little less bright than I had expected), which is neither good nor bad, just my initial observation. I ended up liking them best with the tweeter cranked up a bit.

Pretty cool little cab, if you ask me!

Tom.

Studio Pre 500 review in the next issue!?

Studio Pre 500 review in the next issue!?

The very next issue was already mostly done when I received the latest goodies from Markbass (and will be out very soon!), but I do hope on getting all of these in as soon as possible.

That Studio Pre 500 is just blowing me away at this point, though. I have gigs where some of the tunes call for a full, clean, clear tone, some tunes call for a little more warmth, some call for some obvious grit and grind, and some call for a really gnarly, powerful overdrive. The Studio Pre 500 can do all of those with ease! And best of all, you can still blend in some good, clean low end, no matter how overdriven you get - so the lows are always there for you and they stay tight. Very cool, indeed! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:
