Who else thinks the HT115 should come back?

Jim Bergantino told me recently in an email that he has no plans to reintroduce this cab. Jeff Genzler at Genz-Benz recently told me the same thing. I believe Agular is no longer producing a 115. Sounds like a trend probably driven by low market demand. I'm also wondering about the impact of modern 112s. I play two GB NEOX-112Ts and they sound fantastic. 38lbs each is much lighter than a 115. Sign of the times, I suppose.

I currently prefer and own only Bergantinos and Acmes, but I've owned many other brands in the past. Simply put, my HT115 is my favorite, single cab. I often get unsolicited offers to buy it. (Please don't ask again; it still isn't for sale.) I love it because it does so many things well.

If you've played one, you know what a great full-range cab it is. With that elegant crossover and horn tweeter, it's much better across the frequency-range spectrum than most 15s.

It's moderately efficient and its power-handling rating is quite conservative (typically Bergantino). I've driven it with everything from 60 watts in small venues to 600+ watts in large venues and it sounded wonderful every time.

It plays well with others. My HT115 and its sister HT210 are a legendary pair, but the HT115 complements many other 2x10s as well.

My favorite attributes might be its voicing and clarity. I'm usually seeking an almost-contradictory combination of clean, modern, hi-fi clarity and deep, full, warm, solid, old school, low-end huevos. I don't know of a cab that combines these characteristics more.

Finally, I admit to being a fan of 15s for live sound. I own and like both 10s and 12s. I understand and agree that they can reach as low--and sound as loud--as 15s when properly-designed and placed in correctly-engineered cabinets. IME, however, they still do not provide the pantleg-whipping, bowel-rumbling feel and gravitas of a good 15" driver in the right cab, like the HT115.

Are they perfect? Of course not. They're fairly bulky and heavy. They're also covered in that despicable industrial rat fur. But they do what I want better than anything else I've found.

I've always been disappointed that Jim didn't continue the HT115 or replace it with another 15" cabinet. I have tremendous respect for the man, however, and I know he always has solid technical, marketing or economic reasons for his decisions.

I would love to see them back in production. But if not, then I wish I could find a used HT115 at least. Pretty hard to find.

We have and/or have had 15"s in our line and we can't give them away. A challenge is that when you buy a particular sized speaker, you have to buy skids of them and with 15"s, it would be a couple of years supply.

If you need a great 15 that sounds great, is loud, and is still light (52 lbs) - I've been loving the Accugroove Tri115 I just picked up. Enough so my Berg HT/EX stack is probably going up for sale!

Of all the high end boutique type gear I've tried, the HT115 was the only cab I really liked. It just has a very sweet and natural tone. I hated the 310 and was lukewarm on the 322. That 115 was great though.

There is a DB 115 model on the Aguilar website. I haven't heard this particular model. I've generally found Aggies to be full and deep, but without the clarity or articulation of a number of other brands. IMO, IME, YMMV, etc.

Please let me know if you still have any free 15's to give away LoL, unless they are heavy and covered in rat fur, in which case I'll pass. I understand it's a business decision to not make 15's but FWIW personally, I almost always prefer 15's over 10's or 12's and I know I'm not alone. I think the trick is to make them lighter and as compact as possible without losing the big deep lows. Just my 2 cents.

Spend some time with a DB 115. You may change your mind...or maybe not. I speak from personal experience. Clarity and articulation to spare. I have this overwhelming desire to remove the grill. I know there's a tweeter in there somewhere. As always, I could be deaf.
