Kinal owners??

I just wondered if there were any other Kinal owners over there? I've been through dozens of basses of the last couple of years and finally I think I've found "The One". It's a Kinal MK-5:

Totally superb in every way, build quality, playability and tone, just fantastic, but very little is known about them over here.

Anyone else have one?

I love them.

After trying everything at NAMM I was putting these up there as one of the nicest basses there (for me anyways) just base on playing and tone.

Beauty Russ... did you get this off Eubassix?

are the pups Nords?

I did mate yes. Wish I could've had his fretless too. The pups are Aeros, and are just great, very jazz like, and very much like a Lakland DJ4 I had, with...er....Aeros in it !!

Tumbao, it was £1100 used, I'd probably need to treble that to get a used Fodera over here, mind you, everything is very expensive over here right now because of the weak pound.

One of my basses is an MK-21 with Soapbars, coil tap switch for each P/U and an Aguilar OBP-3. Ash body, flamed maple top and rosewood board. The build quality is as good as it gets and it's a great sounding, versatile bass. You can check my profile to see what other basses I compare it to.

That's my Kinal that you bought. Well, I wasn't the original owner just one of the owners of this bass. I bought it used and owned it for less than a year. I sold it to a guy in England and got my money back on what I paid for it.
It's a great bass. Very versatile. I used it on all my gigs from jazz/fusion, rock to R&B. Everyone loved it. The only reason I sold it was because I couldn't get used to the small string spacing.
Anyhow, congrats on the bass. It's a keeper. I've thought about ordering another new one with wider strings but Mr. Kinal is charging a healthy sum for the bass.

I'm a recent Kinal convert myself as I just picked up bobunit's SKB-5 and I really love it. I have been looking at Kinals for quite a while and I finally pulled the trigger on this one and I couldn't be happier.

Here are a few photos and one from a show a week ago.

Thanks for the comments. Man, there's some nice basses there. Funkythumb, well it's a small world. Yeah, the string spacing is really the only issue. I slap a couple of songs in the set, and it's a squeeze to get my fat fingers in there, but I'm getting used to it. It's a fabulous bass, and really does play itself, it's so comfortable.

Are those gut strings on the 6? How do they sound?

Yeah. They sound like this:

Wasn't the best tension across the strings though, so I didn't keep it strung that way for too long. Lately I've been using plain gut strings for the 2 highest strings (they seem to intonate better on the higher notes) along with my usual TI Acousticores for the rest. Tuned C#F#BEAD (usually). It's a work in progress :D
