Reason #396 on why I don't like guitarcenter:

Out of the 4 walkabout's available online, only one is available for sale. The other 3 are MIA, broken, and being held by management.

Edit: YEAH BOYEE!!!!!

Fountain Valley CA found theirs in the back room and is shipping it out to me today. Tickle me pink, I'm the soon-to-be proud owner of a walkabout/powerhouse 2x10 rig!!!

That's what I've been told, but I still purchased my Walkabout head during a List Sale a few years ago for about half-off. My receipt didn't identify it as Used or Demo, so I have to believe it was considered new.

A couple of years ago there was some sort of falling out b/w GC and Mesa and they weren't carrying any of the bass amps or cabs anymore. GC was selling off the Mesa stuff at a discount. Since last year or so, the bass amps are back in GC so they must have kissed and made up.

wasn't keeping track of who asked, but, yeah.

there's a diff b/t the combo cab and the extension cab.
the fine folks at mesa would be happy to supply either.

This is probably to be assumed, but I would be extra critical of the amp for a few days just to make sure there is nothing wrong with it or damage that you weren't told about (try it at loud volumes and different EQ settings through multiple cabs and basses)- I don't know how many times I plugged into a used amp or bass at GC that was screwed up or even completely non-functional (the Denver GC had a used Mesa Bass 400 out on the floor for over a year that never worked, despite me trying it and telling the employees about it probably a half dozen times- could have just been a fuse, or it could have been tubes that were continuously blowing the fuse, but either way...). As tempting as some of the used deals can seem on the GC website, I don't think I'll ever buy anything from them that I can't play through first- too many people are given unsupervised access to their equipment all day long, and many of the employees don't even seem to know how to use much of the equipment themselves, let alone test it to make sure it is working ideally!

That said- I hope yours is a winner! I got my Scout combo used from a local GC in pristine condition for a very good deal, so there are certainly great deals to be had!

For sure. I'm one of the most critical consumers that I have ever experienced (I spent over 7 years in retail.)

Question #1 out of my mouth: "Can I return it if it arrives not as advertised?"
Answer: "You sure can."

Done and done. Worst case senario, I take it back to my local store and tell them to pound sand.
