Help: Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live chorus robs bass

I have recently purchased the Bass Pod XT Live. Whenever I engage the chorus (deluxe or analog), the bass frequencies are simply robbed. I set up a nice tone, then engage the chorus and it just doesn't sound good. Does anyone have any experience "fixing" this?

My setup: Fender J-bass MIM -> Line 6 -> RMX-1850 -> SWR 4x10.

I'm a little disappointed in this unit so far. I have found the same problem with the distortion and overdrive effects. With the exception of the bass overdrive effect, the lower frequencies drop out significantly when the effect is engaged.

I thought I would make the switch from a pile of stomp boxes to a single unit, but it isn't going so well. At the moment, I have not even come close to finding a sound adequate to replace my Boss Overdrive (the yellow one) and my Digitech Bass Multi Chorus.

Any help is appreciated.

The bass drop is simply an accurate emulation of the specific pedals that Line 6 emulated and is to be expected.

However, I had no difficulty coaxing the low-end back on any of the effects I use. I believe you'll find that many of them have an additional bass control that will help with this (I know for a fact my chorus setting does)

I have to agree about the distortions losing bottom end, but a quick fix is to add the eq,usually post works for me and bump up some bass frequencies. Store this as a seperate channel. So you have a clean one and a fat distortion. Or you can add some DI to your patch I think it's the last menu screen.
As far as the effects go you can set a crossover frequency for the mods and delays.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I did find the bass boost for one of the flangers. I also dinked around with the EQ to post-boost the bass (after the flanger or distortions).... and that basically worked, but I ended up returning the unit.

The mistake is clearly mine, and I should share what that is so that other's don't make the same mistake. For a while, I've been real happy with my line of stomps. I wanted to add a flanger, but I thought that I could add the flanger and some other effects AND clean up my footprint on stage with a multi-effects unit.

Maybe I could have tweaked and tweaked and tweaked and tweaked the Line 6 unit until I was happy. I had spent 6 hours tweaking and I had accomplished only a clean tone that I liked, a distortion tone I could live with and a flanger tone I could live with. Would more tweaking fix it? Maybe. I simply just don't have the time to spend with this unit. And that's my problem, not Line 6's. I bet I'd run into the same problem with Boss GT-6B.

I bought the Boss BF-3 and 20 minutes later I was happy as could be. It's important to note that the BF-3 has an adjustment specifically for bass so that the low frequencies are not robbed. And I'm back to my Boss overdrive that just jumps out with the exact sound I want.

I'm 38. Maybe that's too old for multi-effects.

GE, these techy multis do need some time and effort to get to where you want them to be. Although Line 6 has a PC editing program for the PXTL that substantially eases the process. Anyway, it looks like you're happy and that's what it's all about in the end.

I hear ya my friend! I've been through a ton of multi-effects, Boss,Digitech,Zoom,Korg,Line 6 you name it! Considering the amount of effects I actually use I should probably just have a couple of pedals. But I loves ta tweak!
