Oh yeah!

Now that I've got your attention, here's a link to a video medley from a gig last December with a much expanded version of my main band. Please let me know what you think...

It's a big file, 80 or 90 Mb, about 16 minutes. The playing's rough here and there, but considering we only had one rehearsal before the gig it's not as bad as it might have been.

Brummie TBers might like to know we're playing with this line-up at the Jamhouse on 21st June.

Hey, nice gig. It brings me back to the days when I was playing
some big band stuff, I miss having horns in the band.

Great sound and video quality. Was this a concert type event?
It doesn't seem like a regular club type gig.

The singer did a fine job. I was a bit surprised that her mic was
picking up her hand claps, I thought the field would be tighter
than that.

Your tone was great. I especially liked it on the little funk
number where you had some popping going on. What were
you running through? Was the video sound coming from the
front of house board?

Good stuff, thanks for sharing.

I was running through my Markbass 210 combo (CMD102P) and a Hartke 115xl cab. I had a DI running from the combo to the desk, but on the video it sounds like the mics are picking up some of the onstage sound as well.

The venue is a medium size "arts centre" type place in my area, but with a big stage. It needs to be for that line-up!

Thanks very much for the comments. :)

Bassybill, very nicely done. The arrangements seem quite cool, the singer is very good, nice bass as well :D :D

Lots of players here on TB would kill for a gig like that, and definitely include me in that list of cats! It's been quite a few years since I had the chance to play in a "modern" big band .... most of the stuff I do is old big band standards.

Nice job, man .... I'd love to see/hear more of it when possible ...

You know what this makes me wanna do:

Good point - I don't think I'd check a fifteen minute video out at work, either. ;)

It's funny how downloading a 90 Mb file would have been a major operation just a couple of years ago and now it's pretty commonplace. Data inflation seems to be on an exponential rise.

Anyway, glad you liked it. :)

Nope, she's English. She sounds a bit like Beverley Knight to me at times - who's English, of course.

I'm not entirely sure you can have a regional accent when you're singing. Lots of English and American singers sound pretty similar to me when singing rather than talking.
