also the pickguard seems to be closer to the edge of the bass than other 4003's i've seen.

maybe i'm paranoid?

This seller is honest and has some fantastic basses.

I owned 1973 4001 Rick. It was nice, but ..... make sure you play some to know what you're getting. I ended up with a 77 MM Stingray which had all the mid and highs plus serious punch in the low mids that you don't get on a Rick. Remember you can always roll off the lows, but you can't add a lot if its not there to begin with....

It may very well be a legitimate Ric. But I wouldn't buy from this seller. He spends more time telling your about the conditions of the sale and shipping than about the bass itself. I would not give him my money.

+1 Maybe, but I do see some nice things said about the seller... Possibly he's dealt with some dweeebz that mess up his bidding.

as much as i want a rick and that one is a pretty good deal, i can't get past the ikea finish...

i usually like natural finishes also, but for some reason not on a rick.... i would like a natural finish on the rick if it was dark wood.

it screams balsa to me

That's true. And I have no problem with him setting conditions for sale. But he's trying to sell a bass, some information about the item for sale would be nice.

I've dealt with some dweebs in my eBay bass selling too. So I have a few sentences about negative feedback, international shipping etc. But that's at the bottom of the listing, after I spend five or six paragraphs describing the item for sale.

Much nicer in person, plus they age well. As to the neck, probably the thicker one, they only just recently slimmed it down, but they're still pretty nice. And whoever said you can't get any low end obviosly hasn't played one made after 1984.
