First of all, a thank-you and a "shout out" to mrjim123 for the great thread on bass lines that literally "make the song". Well done and good show!
Now, on to business. This is an off shoot of the same idea, with new criteria:
1) The bass line must be simple. (read: pretty darned easy to play)
2) The bass line must be obvious.
3) The bass line must be fun to play.
4) The bass line must ALSO "make the song".
The whole point is to come up with songs that my beginning students will be interested in playing, instead of having them bring in RHCP and Primus and Victor Wooten all the time. I want to tell them sometimes, "Dude, I'm a bass teacher, not a magician!"
Here's a few:
"My Girl" - Temptations
"If You Want Me To Stay" - Sly Stone
What else?
