Apple's New Macbook Pros

The only complaint I have about the new MacBook Pros is that they got rid of the matte display option (glossy only, it seems).

Other than that, VERY cool.

My current one is almost three years old, so a new one should be coming in a few months (our office tries to rotate machines every three years).

I do have a serious complaint about the new MacBooks (non-pro), though...WHY DID THEY GET RID OF FIREWIRE?!?!?!? :eyebrow:

Well, no offense, HP kinda sucks. They're like the KIA of the PC world. Just sayin. Toshiba isn't too great either. You get what you pay for.

This coming from a PC guy.

and tell me, what would be a good notebook.

I kinda shopped for a long time for it. At first, I was supposed to get a dell XPS with extras and guess what, after 4 months it wasn't ready yet. Sure there are Alienwares and such, but they aren't affordable much. I'd say, for the price I paid, it kicks major asses and if you have something better for the same price, please show me it.

Nice, although the lack of firewire on the regular ones sucks. Although if you need it for much, it is worth paying out for the macbook pro, because final cut comes on it and whatever program that you will be running will run better. The loss of firewire isn't a big deal for 99% of users, and the other users will just buy the pro.

Well for one thing your kinda snide "neener neener" attitude prompted my reply. It's the same Apple / PC debate cost vs. this and that every time. I bet dollar to donuts your notebook is not made of rigid milled aluminum for starters...or that it has dual graphics processors for two...but why quibble?

That said, in re: to HP & Toshiba, it isn't just me saying it man, coulda sworn this was just "known" by people who know better about PC manufacturers...it's not a matter of price but the quality of the components and the soundness of design...but I wish you the best with your notebook. But I will say I know of not one person who has had good experience with the HP/Compaq brand.

Personally, I would have bought the Apple... or the Dell.

Final Cut doesn't come on it...iMovie does.

Final Cut kicks absolute butt, though!!! I need to upgrade my copy one of these days.

Oh they're beautiful. I was excited about the new Macbooks until I noticed there was no longer Firewire. I just bought an external DVD burner, but then again, if I buy a Pro, I'd likely get the Superdrive, so who cares? Bring on the new ones!

When I graduate college in May, I'm getting a new Mac while I still get the student discount, and it looks like the new Macbook, or even Pro will do the trick.
