whats the dumbest thing a guitarist has ever said to you?

Trying to get me to stop over playing (which admittedly I was doing a little bit for this band), "It's a bad thing when the bass is playing more notes than the guitar."

I told him he would apologize for that comment or I was leaving. We stared at each other for about a minute. I packed up my gear and left. He called me a couple of days later. I told him that there aren't enough bass players in town to say stupid things like that and get away with it. When he apologized, I told him about the new band I was already playing with.

In my best Mel Brooks voice, "It's good to be the bass player."

There are so many, I can't remember..

Well, there is this one..

Guitard: What did you do with your mini Hartke?
Me: I don't have a mini Hartke
Guitard: No, I'm pretty sure you do
Me: No I don't
Guitard: Yes you do!

(This went on for a while)

Until this..

Me: The only Hartke things I have are my head and my bottom cab
Guitard: You have that little Hartke thing that you were using before you got your new amp
Me: Um, that was an Ampeg
Guitard: No, it was a Hartke, I remember
Me: Ok then.

Throughout this whole dispute, I had no idea what he was talking about.

I just gave up with him..

My "Mini Hartke" is on the bottom of the pic..:rollno:

This is the honest to God's truth but my friend whos a guitarist just the other day was sitting and talking to me and asked to play my bass. He had no idea what he was doing, so he preceeds to start playing. Not long after he says "wait, how do you tune to Drop D on this?" I said "uhh the same way you would tune the bottom four strings on a guitar" This must have confused him because he gave me the most blank stare Ive ever seen. So I said "those are the same strings as the lower fkur on a guitar but an octave lower" He says "oh.....i didnt know that.." Ive come to the conclusion that after that fateful 30 second conversation, he doesnt deserve to be a guitarist.

Heres another one I heard once that I had to walk away from as not to go apes***
"Bass is for people who can't handle 6 strings"

The IGNORANCE of some people....

I still get angry when I think about it, and even more so now that my skills have grown.
