oops, i posted this in the last thread, here:

hey fellas, yes im a TB noob :smug:. Im thinkin about getting the SB112 to go with my new markbass minimark 2x6. With 125watts in each cab respectively, what kinda volume and sound would i expect to get out of a combination such as that? I play a VM fretless squeir.
Thanks! :hiding:

Well, seeing that the Minimark is 4 ohm, I think, either you would get a 2 ohm load with another 4 ohm, or ~6.37777 ohms with an 8 ohm, adding another cab might not be your best bet.

Now if the minimark is 8 ohm, you have nothing to worry about.

Cool, yes, the MM is 150@8ohms, 250@4ohms with ext cab. So those are nice words to hear. I dont have alot of exp with combos and ext cab configurations.

I'm curious.

How's the volume and tones on the minimark? 21 lbs would be great but 2x6 seems that here wouldn't enough speaker area to get loud and low. Is it a more mid rangy combo? The SB 112 neo is a fairly bright cab so if that's the sound you're looking for it should be great. If you're looking for old school low end thump a less bright cab might be better, especially if the 2x6 are bright and mid rangy.

I often gig my SB112 (8 ohms) using an EA Micro 300 - 180 watts at 8 ohms. that seems to line up real well in my bluegrass/swing/jazz thing. The point there being that it doesn't need huge power to develop a nice rich sound. It might be interesting for you to try just the 112 and disconnect the internal speaks on the MM if that is convenient.

A four ohm cab and an eight ohm cab wired the way most people do it is 2.66666666… ohms.

And Musician's Friend shows the Minimark is 8 ohm normally, and is 250 watts with an extension speaker (I don't have a manual in front of me, but I'm willing to bet that the amp in the Minimark only does a four ohm load). So the OP will want an eight ohm extension cab.

OH, the volume it puts out is amazing for how light and small it is. Unfortunantly i havent had a whole lot of time to play with it. I did however have a light jame session with a semi-loud drummer and a sampler in a small room, had no problem cutting through with some headroom to spare. It is actually quite low sounding for the speakers it has, the mids are quite nice too. The only thing i have trouble getting out of it with my VM Squier J fretless is some highend. There is no equalizer, and find it hard to get a bright sound even with its VLE & VPF filters off. So the SB112 Neo sounds like a good fit, as i am looking for that brighter sound, it's definantly on the top of my list! :hyper: thanks!

unfortunantly the manual tells me the speaker off switch also turns off any ext cab as well, i guess so you can only use the amp for recording ect. dont know why MB would limit you like that. But thats useful to know that 180 watts for SB112 is enough for you, makes me feel better about the 125 i'd be puming into it.

I prolly should post an origanal thread with all my MM questions and issues, i dont mean to bogg up the Avatar club with MB stuff :smug:. Great info anyway! would love to hear more about the SB112! :D

Anyone here play a 210 into a 212? Or vice versa?

Im really GASing for one to add to me current rig.

I did the 2x10 and 1x12 stack for a bit. I like the voice of the 12" cab for what I do better. That delivered much of what I liked in a Schroeder 21012L cab I had for a bit. Not bad company for a budget stack... The SB112 is underrated IMO ...

The 2x12 & 2x10 stack would be such overkill for what I do these days ...

I play a 410 + 212 and i love they tone i get. I put the 410 on the bottom since it has better low end and the 212 on top really projects the sound more. I love the setup. I didnt realize how much they compliment each other until i brought one cab to a friends house to jam, sounded completely different. Not very portable, but defiantly sound great.

The SB112 is my favorite cab, had another successful rehearsal with it last night and I love it. No lack of lows or volume but if there were I would just add my other SB112 for gigs, really incredible as a pair. I'm suprised with the popularity of the Aguilar and Genz Benz 2 x 112 set ups that more people have not tried this with Avatar.
