New GK Neo Cabs

Has anyone seen the new GK neo cabs? Arriving here in Australia next month. The local distributor is suggesting they have resized the 210 neos to fit the 212 size for stacking. A bummer for me if it does not fit the old 210 as I just bought one and was looking for a second matching cab to stack and now they may not match :(

I hope you are right! That was what I heard below from the distributor..

"Yes there has been some changes.

The NEO range used to be of slightly different sizes, which presented problems when stacking cabs.

They've since streamlined the range to be of the same width, with the 210 becoming narrower, and subsequently a little lighter."

They are coming in next month so fingers crossed

I recently played an outdoor gig with an 700RB-II driving a Neo212/Neo112 stack, and let me tell you, that was one killer rig! The lows are all you want/need, the highs were clear and not harsh, and the mids were powerful yet articulate. I haven't spent much time with the new 10" GK Neo's, but that 2x12 and 1x12 are extremely impressive in my book.

The new Neo112 and Neo212 will now stack on the Neo115, 410 and 210 cabinets. The Neo112 and Neo212 were changed to allow this.

Is this change taking place worldwide and if so, when will these units be available?

According to the musiciansfriend website the dimensions of the Neo112 and the Neo412 are as follows:

Neo112:
24"W X 16"H X 15"D
Neo410:
23.5"W x 26.5"H x 18.5"D

Will they stack properly even though they aren't the same width? (if these are the updated units)

Hey mate,

that would be the old Neo112 dimensions...

the GK website lists them all...

Strange that if they did an update, the depths are still different...i like a solid lock on all corners :)

I played the same rig week before last, except my cabs are the series 1's. And you're right..... it's absolutely killer! In addition to the qualities you've mentioned, I'll add that it's an incredibly versatile rig, and easy enough to cart around. Awesome rig at any price!

+1, big time! Everyone at that gig, including the bass player for the band after us who also used that rig, was just amazed at how good it sounded. Yes, that's right! Guitar players went out of their way to say how good a bass rig sounded!!! :eek:

The fact that it is very portable and a tremendous bang for the buck is just icing on the cake. :cool:

This thread intrigues me because I'm making the switch to GK from an Ampeg SVT head/8x10 rig. So far I'm really enjoying the Fusion 550 head, but still need to make a decision on the cabs. I'm used to having all of that air pushed at me from the 8x10s, but I'd love to replace them with something more portable (and ideally better-sounding). Do you guys think the 212/112 mix would be a veritable option?

My Girl just bought me a 2nd Neo 4x10 and it came with the black oval logo, not really digging it. I ended up taking it off because my other one has the older logo which I prefer. Another change I noticed seems to be that the holes in the grill are slightly smaller.

Besides all of that I love running 1k watts into 2 GK neo 4x10's such a nice sound:bassist:

Yes, and yes (both of the cabs I used were 8-ohm cabs). However, the Neo112 is rated for 300 watts, and in my use, it held up fine. For equal power distribution to all three of the 12" drivers in that setup, ideally you'd want a 4-ohm Neo212, but that would leave you with a 2.67-ohm load, which is beyond the 4-ohm rating on the RB700-II.

I definitely share your concerns about overpowering the 1x12 in this setup. All I can say, though, is that this rig seemed to perform quite well in live use, and I never observed any signs of stress from the Neo112.

My first suggestion would be to try the Fusion into the Neo412. That cab is a monster! If you wanted more portability, then try two Neo212's.

The Neo112/Neo212 stack performed just great for me, but if you want to move air equivalent to an 8x10, then I'd go for at least four 12" drivers.
