why is it that i dont see mesa being recommended to people on this forum? people will post a question about what cab i should get, i want midrange punch good bass response blah blah.

any mesa cab ive ever played on has had awesome midrange warmth and punch with awesome response in both the low end and high end department. i dont see ampeg recommended all that much either but i less often see mesa.

whats up with that?

I'll repeat in light of the new part to this thread:

Anyone know the weight of the BB750 and/or can comment on whether it's closer to the tone of the Walkabout than the Carbines are?

I have owned the Mpulse 600, Walkabout, BB750 and now own the M6. The M6 is like 28 lbs. I think the BB750 was a few pounds heavier as I believe it is a bit deeper than the M6. The Walkabout is the tubiest sounding Mesa hybrid, followed by the BB750, then the Mpulse and then M6 and M9 are more on the solid state end of the spectrum, but they still have awesome tone.

Thanks much. I had a Fathom briefly, seemed heavier than 30 lbs but I can't be sure. That sucker was hissy for my taste as well-maybe a bad, early apple. The WA makes me grin every time I power it up, however.

The M6 is actually spec'd at 24 pounds. I thought I weighed mine and it was a shade more, but not a lot. It's racked now tho, and not worth me un-racking to double check at this point. :)

I've had one 400, two 400+, an MPulse 600, three Walkabouts, and an M6.

Still have a current issue Walkabout and M6, and it's really hard to choose between them.
They're both great! It mostly boils down to "older school tbue feel; or more modern clear, hi power feel"

They both have plenty of power for my jobs, are tone-packed, pretty dang small compared to many things I've used over the years.
I've used some of the current smaller stuff, and I still grab the MB-F1 sometimes just cause it *is* so dang small...but it's just not the same.

OK, does this get me in???

Please compare how The Mesa 6x10" compares to SVT 410HLF in your opinion and experience?

No prob - they both have a ton of low end, comparable to one another, IMO - and more than any other cabs out there, short of Acme's... IMO, the differences between the two are that the Mesa has a bit more clarity and more of a "hi-fi" sound, whereas the SVT-410HLF isn't quite as articulate, and has a tiny bit of "old school" sound to it - when compared directly to the PH610... I also think the Ampeg is a tiny bit stronger in the mids - but either cab can be made to sound very close to the other, with some EQ'ing...

They both work well for me when powered by a 700rb-II, set mostly flat - but I like ALOT of low end, probably moreso than most bassists...

- georgestrings

Thanks! I own the SVT410HLF (Vietnamese) and I really like it - good lows but it also really supports the mid-agressive Stingray/Bassdriver tone I am giving it.

Just curious about every comparision I can get for my cabinet and since I'm GASig for Mesa heads at the moment it was a good time to ask how do their cabs compare :)

Don't think I've posted mine for a while

My 400+ in it's new headcase on a variety of Matamp Cabs

Will shoot the big rig tonight (2 Stereo 400's with an Alembic preamp basically a super 400+) :D

No need for a number though
