OMG..a Peavey made all my other basses obsolete.

How is this possible? Why are these basses only worth approx 200$ (I paid 150$).
Its a 1985 Foundation that has been converted into a fretless.
I played it out last night, and holy cow! I can get Jaco type growl form the bridge PUP and make it sound almost upright from the neck PUP. I tried it next to my 7 other basses and this one sounds and plays better. Plus, I really like and need a skinny neck and this one is skinnier than a Geddy.
Its got tape wounds on it and the body is one piece mahogany and its beautiful.
I can't believe it was only 150$!
Why are they so under-rated? (Rhetorical question).
I'm just sayin'....

Same as a Yamaha BB414 I pickup up the other day....it is excellent and simple...passive, yet loud and clear. I have a Warwick and Yamaha TRB's yet this entry level bass is all you need for the run of the mill stuff.

Peavey? Why on earth would you want to waste your time on that junk?:rollno::D

Never owned a peavey bass but my tour vb-2 all tube head is a ****ing dream. It paired with a EB-3 and AMPEG 4 10' cab has this gnarly tone that my buddy is jealous of. And he has a all Ampeg rig with a nice G&L bass.

I got T-25 and 80's Predator that both blow away my MIM Strat at 1/2 the cost. Peavey USA made amazing basses and guitars in the 70's and 80's but I feel were not marketed properly. They didn't pursue the big name endorsers from the eras, Ross Valory of Journey is one of few. Adrian Vandenberg came along with his WhiteSnake fame but by then most of Peaveys guitars and basses were made in Japan/Korea/China and now Viet Nam and Indonesia. I get to use an old T-40 bass at church and the tone is amazing but so is the weight. Keep these old Peaveys secret or they'll start asking more $$$ for them.

Anybody have any idea what these USA Peaveys sold new back in the 80s and 90s? I gotta believe it was 200 maybe? If you take into consideration inflation and all, they should be selling for a lot more than they do now.
I've got a ton of them for sale in here. They are definitely underrated and under priced.

In 1988 I bought a Dyna-Bass 5 for $650, discounted from ~$900. I would guess the MSRP on the Foundation was probably about ~$500, street $350-450. They sold a ton of 'em.

If that's the case Phil, then I think the Peavey lovers should never complain if the prices eventually go up on these old Peaveys that are in good shape. Heck, I'm selling them with cases at an average of $300.

Look at Rickenbackers for example. A few months ago, I bought a 2010 4003 Fireglo for 1565 at Sam Ash. Used ones in good shape from the 80s are selling for much more than that and they were only selling for about 5 or 6 hundred back in the 80s.

Based upon that, the old USA Peaveys could easily be going for 6 ro 7 hundred today!

The first bass I bought back in the early 80's was a Peavey T20. I think I paid around $200 for it, maybe less. It was a great bass but after awhile I fell for the got to have a fender talk. Then went to several other brands.
Two years ago guess what brand I went back to and plan on staying with from here on out? I'll give you a hint.....

USA Peaveys are are awesome basses. My Millennium is my main bass. It's actually the best sounding bass I've ever had, and the most versatile. The only thing I don't really care about is the 35" scale, but I'll live with it. :D But shhhh...we don't want a lot of people to know how awesome these basses are. Prices are great now. :D
