    Clean Boost/Buffers

EQD Tone Job. 3-band EQ, suits bass very well.

    ehx bbm question!

They both pass signal, same as the (XO) Octave Multiplexer.

ugh, pedal loss or failure stories? post 'em up!

In this instance the gear did was it supposed to do -- but the conditions were less than ideal: Played a gig at Ronny's in Chicago a few months ago. In our first song our guitarist has a 12-bar solo, and during that time I kick in my OCD to take up a bit more space (or just to compete for...

    New EHX pedals (DEAR LORD!)

I've had great success recording with a NYC Big Muff into an EHX Germ OD. Doesn't sound as good through an amp, but I'm guessing this dual pedal will be pretty close to that sound. FWIW, the BBM sounds pretty decent through the Germ as well.

    Stolen Gear in Chicago

More than just "effects," but a number of those, so I'm posting here. Hoping mods will move if appropriate. From the Tribune: The Miami rock band Torche, which played Friday at the Congress Theatre, had most of its equipment stolen from its van after the show. A statement from the...

VT Bass, am i doing it wrong?

I don't know if this is an obvious point, but at least part of the issue may be that when you record DI into the computer, the VT acts as the only tone-shaper, because it's the only preamp. If you're using the VT into the input of your amp, then the signal is effectively being preamped twice...

Oooooooh I learned a new trick today!!!

Related but few more steps: I run my Geddy Lee J through an OCD, 105Q, and a VT Bass (as always-on preamp). If I back off the neck pickup a bit while the OCD is on & then engage the wah a bit I can get some crazy pitched theremin-style feedback. Not sure if this is a peculiarity of my rig...

    bi-amping

I've been experimenting with using bi- two amps. My main bass rig is a 250W HK (using a VT for preamp), but for the occasional fuller EQ I've been running a signal (controlled with a volume pedal) into an old 15W Fender Pro Junior. (That's a guitar amp for those unfamiliar.) Unfortunately I...

Recommend an overdrive that meet these critieria?

I suspect the OCD might suit you very well. I have the v.4, and haven't noticed any loss of low end. I think my VT might forgive low end loss, FWIW. But again FWIW, I love my Bass Drive too, and haven't noticed any loss of low end with it either.

    big muff pi w/tone wicker?

I tried my guitarist's TW last week. Sounded great through my VT (used as preamp). Lots of gain on tap. Not as versatile as the BBM, of course. Didn't notice much in the way of low-end loss.

    B:Assmaster v Mammoth

One small note: the B:Assmaster has no "dry volume" (a la the EHX BBM); rather, it has a "bass volume." If you turn the "ass" (distortion) all the way down and the "bass" up, you will get not your dry unaffected tone, but something bland and characterless (IMO). In my experience the...

    Good Boost Pedal?

I love the Fulltone Bass Drive in "Comp Cut" mode, which essentially turns the first channel into a clean boost. Lots of volume to be had there; I never have the vol knob above 10 o'clock. The BD also has the swell option of adding a separate "Boost" channel (engaged via separate switch) to...
