    Impressed with Warwick hardware!

I'm with you on the nut and bridge, but the tuners, not so much. The headstock is too thick for them and they only grip with about two threads which strip then the tuner is loose. I actually bought it new like that. They are cast threads too, not machined. I saw it as a design flaw and not a...

Anybody played a EBS Classic T90

Bringing back an old thread. Anyone else have any experience to share about the T90? It's a 90 watt tube amp. It looks great on paper. I'd like more info about how it sounds. I'm thinking about getting one, but would have to special order; no opportunity to audition before hand.

Anyone else NOT like the sound of vertical stacked 2x10 cabs?

Ok I did a little test comparing my Berg HT112ER on the floor and up on something. I didn't want to spend a lot of time on this but I was really curious what would be the result in the low to low-mid region. I plotted sine wave sweeps from 40 hz to 1000hz. Cab on the floor is in the middle...

Anyone else NOT like the sound of vertical stacked 2x10 cabs?

There is technically more comb filtering in a line array in the vertical dimension, especially with your ear near the top driver, but I don't think this is a problem for the audience. Yes the baffle width changes from a 2x2 to 1x4 arrangement (that's one of the points of line arrays) and the...

Anyone else NOT like the sound of vertical stacked 2x10 cabs?

Has anyone considered that changing the effective width of the baffle (going from a 2X2 speaker arrangement to a 1X4) also changes the baffle step loss? This can have a significant effect on the tone even if you were on axis with both the 2X2 and 1X4 speaker arrangements. Right? Jarrett I...

Anyone else NOT like the sound of vertical stacked 2x10 cabs?

Yes this is the expected change in frequency response going from quarter-space to half-space (if up against a wall) or from half-space to full space. And as already mentioned, off axis to on axis plays a role in masking the lows.

    plate amp for cab advice...?

I think you would be better of not doing it. Most cheap plate amps are junk and the good ones are over $1000 and they are about 10 lbs. Take a look. Invalid Link Removed price is $1129 a little cheaper here Invalid Link Removed price $973 I haven't seen any cheap, high powered...

Do You Use a High Action?

I have high action. IME I've found muting the strings easier with high action for me especially when lifting pressure off a fretted string, the string dampens quickly. I really like this about high action. Someone mentioned that lower action leads to better intonation. I want to suggest that...

    Composite Nidacore Fearful 15/6/1 Build

I just looked at the web site for Nida-core. Very interesting material. http://nida-core.com/english/nidaprod_honeyinfo_working.htm It can also be molded by heat. The core has a lower melting point than the skin. Robbie, have you thought of alternatives to using glue? From this website, it...

How to Reduce Signal from an Ampified Connection to a simple line level?

If you are interested in building your own, I had an old amp that used a 5 watt resistor, (don't know the ohms off hand) to bring down the speaker level output back down to line level. Maybe someone else can help you out with the resistor. I don't have that amp anymore.

What's the button between the mute button and gain pot? Does anyone know or have a guess? I can't make it out on the picture.

Bass vs mic preamps: what will I lose?

I agree, I had one and quickly got rid of it because it filtered out everything below 40hz in active mode. I didn't like that at all. I also agree with liking the punch of the sound unfiltered, I wish I could get that sound in a live setting, but I guess that's why we play with the bass drum.

Bass vs mic preamps: what will I lose?

The evidence that bass amps have high pass filters is that some print it in their specs (phil jones bass for example), some are switchable (acoustic image sweepable filter, GK deep switch for example), all the bass amps that have been scoped in Bass Gear Magazine show high pass filtering, and...

Bass vs mic preamps: what will I lose?

One thing to consider in choosing a preamp is the high pass filter. Bass preamps usually have a fixed high pass filter suited for a 4 or 5 string bass and mic preamps are either full range or have an adjustable filter. Some people like using mic pres for this reason, deeper low frequency...
