    New Bass Day!!!

Hey there! That bass looks awesome. :bassist: Does it have a maple/bubinga neck and what is the fretboard made of? I´m waiting myself for the completition of a Bee Stinger. Hopefully it´s OK if I attach two pics of it... I would love to hear how this beauty sounds. That´s a real eye candy.

4 or 6 to start with

A 6 string bass gives tons of tonal range. For a player who wants to play solo stuff I´d say a 6 would be a good choice. Theory and scales are the same on a 4 or 6 string, you just have more room on the fretboard. As you have large hands you can´t go wrong. But persons with small hands can play...

Lakland 44-01: Maple or Rosewood FB?

In my experience, maple adds brightness and somehow more aggression to the overall sound. Works well for slap style or tapping for me. Rosewood makes the sound warmer or darker imo. But you CAN do all techniques on basses with both woods. As some members already wrote, try them both and let...

I finally got a new message from Fred. He had medical problems over the last weeks. That´s why he didn´t respond but I´m glad he´s getting better. Here is a Pictures of the neck. The fretboard wood will go all the way over the neck into the body (exept the headstock cap). Sounds nice :D

If you want walnut for the whole body then you could have it chambered, that would make the instrument lighter. Some say that makes an electric bass sound more acoustic too... :eyebrow: For a lot of growl a walnut body is a good choice. Ash/walnut will work well too as I believe. But the pickups...

Hi, you have a good taste for basses, that´s for sure... :) Well I´ve been waiting for a couple of month now for my custom order and understand your wish to buy used. The building time started with 2 months in February/March and goes on for an unknown amount of time.:( Your wood choice is nice...

What color Pickguard for a 3-tone Sunburst Fender Jazz?

The standard pickguard for 3 tone sunburst is Tortoise. Duhh... If you like it seventies style take a black one or do it like Jaco and use no pickguard. You can also have an exotic ;) one made out of wood like rosewood or colored maple.

    If i had $8499...

Foderas or vintage Instruments are both instruments to express yourself in the first place. But that can be also achieved on other brands or none vintage equipment. In Foderas case I think its not only the woods, electronics and working time that makes them so expensive it´s also that they work...

Going from 4 to 5 (merged threads)

When I changed to a 5string it was mainly because that bass sounded and felt nice. I never thought much about possible problems and nothing extremely bad happend. The only thing I had to adjust to was the muting with the right hand. Slap players have to take care of one additional string too of...

Here I have some update pictures from Fred on my Stinger. It took a while and several mails but now some progress can be seen. :hyper: The first one is a shot of the body shape cut out. On the second pic is the nice Ziricote fretboard. The part above the pencil line will be used as the actual...

What should I get? A new bass, or an amp?

My advise is to go with the bass to your trusted music shop and have it set up properly. It will improve the playability of the instrument a lot if done correctly and to your tastes. When I joined a band and looked for an amp I was told that a bassist needs at least twice the power than a...

Is my lead singer that bad?

I´ve listened to the Youtube vid and think the singing is not as bad as Anthony Kiedis in the early RHCP days. :hiding: - just joking - But seriously if he reduces the vibrato and concentrates more on the pitch it can get better. Don´t cut him off too fast, that can be done too easily! Talk to...
