Review of the new Fender Precision 2008

Went to a local pawn shop 2 years ago. Hanging on the wall was a minty, '08 Fender American Standard PBass in Olympic White w Tort guard, tug bar, for $1k. Neck straight, dead roundwounds, not a scratch/ding to be found. Took a pass b/c price was a bit high & didn't have the cash. Fast forward...

    Guild Jumbo Junior String Recommendation

@HaphAsSard The Pyramids arrived...installed & playing them. They do 'feel' pretty amazing to me, just like my electrics with XL Chromes. No mushyness or rolling. The Pyramids' tone and thump is more like an upright bass for sure. The E string needed some filing on the nut for the Guild. My...

    Guild Jumbo Junior String Recommendation

Going to take a chance on the Pyramids since they are advertised as being compatible w the Guild. Will report my findings once received, installed and played in. @HaphAsSard - the Guild bidge pins are the normal slotted affair ones. The one side is slotted while the other side is...

    Guild Jumbo Junior String Recommendation

The Gold Tone Micro Bass Silverbacks do NOT fit (slide) into the tuning slots nor into the holes on the tuning pegs of the Guild. The diameter of the E string is just too large without modification (drilling/filing). It was suggested that if one were to run these particular strings...

    Guild Jumbo Junior String Recommendation

Thank you for replies. I’d prefer using flats but It’s nice knowing what will actually play on this instrument without modifications.

    Guild Jumbo Junior String Recommendation

Own ABG above. Scale is 23.75". Dislike the rattle & feel of stock, phosphor bronze D'addario-Taylor strings. D'addario makes a 'newer packaged' XT version with a different coating (?). D'Addario XT Phosphor Bronze Bass Guitar Strings for Taylor GS Mini Bass, Custom Light, 37-90 | Guitar...

    RIP steve_rolfeca

Really sad to hear this news. Steve and I were recently in PMs together, right at Christmas, as I was looking for an ABG and wanted his feedback on what to look for,…and like him, I ended up purchasing a Guild Jumbo Junior Bass, too! He really loved playing that Guild with a Bose S1 in tow...

Did you guys hate stuff like this in 1988...??

Tune and LP/CD are brilliant and well-written lyrically. Selling to the late-80s pop scene but liking the chord progression and walk-downs. Would definitely stack this up against Petty’s stuff of the day.

Make sure you get the long shaft 250K pots. Just re-potted two Foundation basses, one from the 80's and one from the 90's.

Congratulations! Have a ‘95 Foundy w the Peavey logo soapbar pickups and rosewood fretboard. It plays sublime. I actually like the tone of these pups very much. Enjoy your new instrument.

Realize that this question is a personal thing,... In regards to Super Ferrite pickups on a Foundation, what would be the default jumping off points to set the height for neck & bridge pickups on Bass and Treble sides (4 string)? Have seen 1/8" on Bass side and 3/32" on Treble. Is this...

Thank you @Count Bassie Appreciate the honest feedback about the cab. When you say they don’t make the Black Widow anymore, can a basket be obtained or what are the options if something is blown, etc?

There's a Peavey 115 BW on casters for sale near me ($180). Can't ID the ohms & need help. Posting front & back pics. Seller seems honest, doesn't have a ton of info & hasn't played it. Serial lookup is 1988 build. Would this be a reasonable purchase? Thank you. EDIT: Posted this thread in...

Are the access screws easy to get to? Not familiar with this cab at all.
