A pickup like the Duncan Quarter Pounder P has added low end, but it's boomy with scooped mids, which doesn't make it a net positive for me.
Seems the Neo magnets added low end punch without making the pickup boomy, it has good humbucker warmth.

I don’t think they were using a branded tuner on a lot of those models, maybe Ping or Jin Ho or something similar they probably wouldn’t advertise. I might take the opportunity to upgrade to a more premium tuner if you enjoy the bass enough to do so.
Gotcha, the plus versions have the open back hipshot tuners. The "standard" Millys have the closed back tuners. The same tuners as G-bass & Cirrus? Sorry I'm of no help.

With the exception of tiger eye custom Cirrus, none of those shipped with Hipshot tuning pegs. The Millennium Plus and RJ-IV got the Hipshot D-tuner but the remaining 3 pegs were Korean imports. Those imports were modelled after the Gotoh GB7; in turn the Gotoh were modelled on the M4 launched by Schaller way back in 66 or 67.

I’m aware that some did not come with Hipshot or gotoh or shaller factory.

And randy Jackson and cirrus basses. I used gotohs on my b quad 5 and Hipshot on my bquad 4
and both Hipshot and gotoh on two different cirrus basses and even Hipshot Tuners on a tl 5

I'm going to be doing some restoration work on my newly acquired 1992 Foundation with Super Ferrite pickups.I know they are single coil but the pots are all 500Kohm. My experience is that 500K is normally used in humbuckers and 250k in single coil. Is 500K normal for these pickups?
Also, it has a green poly 0.047uF cap. Any reason a orange drop cap of the same rating would be any different?

So very different than what is in yours. Recall mine was owned by a pro so who knows if that was standard or custom wiring by either the factory or by one of Buck’s techs.

Green cap - Metalized Film
715 or 716 orange drop - Film /Foil.
Many argue and type for pages about how it doesn't matter. But I prefer to treat myself and our customers to a quality foil capacitor. It's not a big deal , it's not expensive , there's only one cap. Treat yourself to a decent cap.
Make sure you get the long shaft 250K pots. Just re-potted two Foundation basses, one from the 80's and one from the 90's.
I have disassembled the Foundation getting ready to strip the body. I noticed one thing that is different than on humbuckers. On the neck pickup the red wire is ground and on the bridge it is the black wire. I know when you have two single coils making up a humbucker you do attach north and south on the same pair, but when they are separated, is this also the case?
Also, these are very low resistance (5.1Kohm neck and 5.2Kohm bridge). Are those the normal values? The bass was played by a real pro before disassembly and he loved the sound.

They're about right.
Multimeter readings show resistance which is just how much wire is used. As Peavey's Super Ferrite used a fairly strong ceramic magnet the pickups didn't require all that much wire.

The wood guessing game. This is my 92 Foundation with the black poly stripped. Any thoughts on wood type? I like the grain structure so likely going with a tung oil finish.
