    Supro Huntington Club

I'm considering selling my Natural Ash Huntington I. It's never left the studio and is in mint condition. I installed the TV Jones Thunderblade pickup, which completely solves the low volume outer string problem that is inherent with the Supro stock pickups. I'm in no rush to sell, but if...

If we are talking about bass players, Kim Deal has one of the most intriguing voices I've ever heard.

    Mustang Mod

Update: I ended up having a different bridge pickup installed: a MM-style humbucker with maple wood cover made by Häussel. Strung it with D'Addario Halfwounds, added stacked V/T knobs for pickup blending. Got rid of the stock 3-way pickup selector switch but put in a 3-way mini coil selector...

Upgrades for Fender Mustang PJ bass

Update: I ended up doing the stacked V/T knobs but had different pickups installed: Seymour Duncan SPB-1s in the neck and a MM-style humbucker with maple wood cover made by Häussel in the bridge. Now strung with D'Addario Halfwounds. Got rid of the stock 3-way pickup selector switch but put in a...

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 7

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm playing a fretted model. With the old pahoehoe strings, the fretted intonation was good—the issue was that, when doing long slides up the neck, the string would slacken between the fret and bridge, so I would be off by a semitone when reaching the...

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 7

Thanks for your input! Unfortunately, no truss rod, so I am thinking I may need to go down the route of a new instrument that can handle the added tension. Unless any of the other synthetic strings slide with better intonation that the pahoehoes...?

    Kala UBass Megathread, Part 7

Hoping that the U Bass crew here can help me out with some questions. I have owned a 1st generation U Bass for over 10 years but didn't play it very much due to the fact that I slide up the neck a lot and would end up with flat notes when playing the original pahoehoe strings (those strings were...

TV Jones recommended the EM4 "Fender style" ring, which fit perfectly (I used the original Supro ring screws). The only thing to note is that it is black plastic (I would have preferred metal), but it matches the pickguard nicely.

    Supro Huntington Club

For anyone still struggling with the low-volume E string issue, a pickup swap solved it for me. It became clear that the magnetic field of the stock pickup was not adequately capturing the outer strings when they were played away from the center of the pickup (upstrokes on the E string and...

    Supro Huntington Club

Have any Huntington owners done a pickup swap? I'm thinking of doing this on my H1 to try to alleviate the low volume issue on the E string and would be interested to know if that has worked for anyone else. I'm considering either a Mojo "Goldtone" Gold Foil or a Mojo Dynatone (both designed...
