    Double Bass Orchestral instruments

It's not even about sexism. You're basically saying that girls are small and boys are big. That's generalizing. Yes, that does sometimes end up being the case, but there are definitely a lot of guys out there that are small than I am, and I bet a few girls that are larger than you. The topic...

    Double Bass Orchestral instruments

I'm a girl. My hands are small, but they rarely get in the way. Different hands have different pros/cons. Can we please end this conversation? It's disgustingly generalized. We should all just do/play whatever the hell we want and make an honest attempt to do a good job. The end. Goodbye.

    Double Bass Orchestral instruments

It takes a serious weirdo to decide they want to play the double bass. The gender is irrelevant. Why is this even up for discussion?

Double Bass How is a DB player to behave?

Don't overthink it. Just do what feels right.

Double Bass DB joke -- don't get it (BG player)

Maybe it's referring to our intonation. Hehehehe.

Double Bass First finger hurting in thumb position?

Maybe you just need to relax your left hand more? Maybe use your weight to hold down the string instead of pressing? The double stops in koussevitzky injured my hand when I first started playing it because 1) I was pressing instead of using my weight, and 2) i was very anxious about playing it...

Double Bass practice with no/very small amount, of rosin?

I only rosin about once a week, depending on how much im playing. Chances are there's always still a little bit of rosin left over anyways, so you just need to warm it up a little. It's better for your bow hair and technique. I die a little bit on the inside every time someone calls it...

Double Bass To ear your DB among the orchestra

Use the vibrations! Learn how each note feels on your finger tips and bow hand. It's also helpful to press your ear against the neck.

Double Bass Top Grad Schools for Full Rides/Assistantships

Cincinnati conservatory grad students are very well off when it comes to scholarships. But if you woo the teachers, be patient, and know how to negotiate and sell yourself, you can get a great scholarship almost anywhere.

    Double Bass Alabama Principal?

Let's keep in mind that IU has 1 billion bassists. I'm sure the percentage of students winning jobs are about the same, if not more, at places like Curtis or rice. If anyone wants to take the time to figure those numbers out, go for it, but who really cares? Go to the school that is the best for...

I know a percussionist who got in. Congrats to mr. Neil rao? =D (it's not bass related, but he still deserves recognition.)
