    A Wishnevsky beats a Conklin....

Thanks! We're playing tonight at 10. Hopefully we'll endure a few more rounds.

IMHO, the above monster has a lot more pointy edges than mine! [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

    A Wishnevsky beats a Conklin....

Not likely! It was more the taste of the judges than anything to do with my playing. :)

    A Wishnevsky beats a Conklin....

...in the Open Mic Madness at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta. Somehow, Lost July was chosen over John Turner's Lord Only to continue to the second round of competition. Lost July features a beautiful Wishnevsky EUB, while Lord Only sports John Turner's incredible seven-string Conklin. Is this...

    So, anybody LIKE Whisnevskys?

xush: Come on... In the other Wishnevsky thread there has been plenty of "passionate slamming". Uncle Fat: Cool. My EUB was only the second he'd ever made. He said he had plans to build a bigger scale one, then one that was made for arco playing. I'm sure there are a lot of high-priced...

    So, anybody LIKE Whisnevskys?

I have a Wishnevsky EUB. I like it. It's a serious instrument to me. Of course there are things I would change about it but they don't affect the sound or the playability too much. I actually picked up the bass from Steve's shop and talked to him. Having seen his shop it may very well have...

what kind of basses do you play?

    Wishnevsky!!!!!!

I arrived at his shop on Saturday. He's a super-nice guy; he even offered to take my wife and I out to lunch. He soon led me into his house, where there were tons of completed and half-finished basses, included a really nice looking upright. Even the stranger ones he had did not look nearly...

Makes you wonder though... that last one was so sloppy looking I almost have to think it's intentional.

    Wishnevsky!!!!!!

Is that really against Ebay rules? I just thought it meant that there would be no Ebay protection on purchases.

    Wishnevsky!!!!!!

He's told me he's building a 42" next. The one I've bought is a 36". A bit short, but maybe if I like it I'll look into the 42". The one after the 42" is going to be one meant for arco playing. His acoustic uprights look really good, so I'm pretty excited about it. Mine is, I think, only...

And the price was very right for an EUB. $250.

    Wishnevsky!!!!!!

Oh, John, I didn't realize that's what you meant. I thought you were saying you could never get into it. Then again, why would you need to get in there with the strings on? Unless there's faulty wiring or something. I agree about rounding the bridge. Probably not a great idea.
  14. A

    Wishnevsky!!!!!!

Good question. Maybe it's a floating bridge or something. Wishnevsky said he could round it a bit if I wanted to do some arco playing....
