Good question. Maybe it's a floating bridge or something. Wishnevsky said he could round it a bit if I wanted to do some arco playing....

What John is talking about is how the bridge overlaps on the control cover. If you needed to go in there for any reason, you would have to take the strings off and then the bridge off.

I guess it is likely that the bridge is just held on by the tention of the strings.

yeah, that's a floating bridge.

I could deal with the wierd shapes and heck, I could even install a decent bridge on it.

If he would just leart about truss rods he might have something going.

Probably a bad idea as the fretboard is designed for the current bridge, you'd get varying string heights to struggle with...

Anyway, if the price is right it should be a good bass to check if upright is for you. If it is perhaps you'll want to upgrade later, but this is now. Good luck!

Oh my! The bridge overlapping the chili can top..er I mean control cavity cover?? Never seen that one before. That's what I like about Wish...constantly innovating. No room for a bridge and a control cavity cover? Ha!

Oh, John, I didn't realize that's what you meant. I thought you were saying you could never get into it.

Then again, why would you need to get in there with the strings on? Unless there's faulty wiring or something.

I agree about rounding the bridge. Probably not a great idea.

Also, with the Jazz pickup, you would get very bad ballance between the strings if you set it up for arco playing.

I dont think its 42" though.

If he's happy with his, and Wish would agree, I could imagine myself comisisoning him to build me a 42" scale properly radiused EUB.

Not now though. Im low on cash.

He's told me he's building a 42" next. The one I've bought is a 36". A bit short, but maybe if I like it I'll look into the 42". The one after the 42" is going to be one meant for arco playing.

His acoustic uprights look really good, so I'm pretty excited about it. Mine is, I think, only the second EUB he's ever made.

Re: the price, it was actually an Ebay auction that didn't pass the reserve, but I was the high bidder. He emailed me and asked if I was interested in it at my bid price. I agreed. I can't say any further EUBs will be that cheap.
