DP thanks for posting, sorry if it was inappropriate for me to link to your website picture.

I'll bet that Bananna Bass has a really cool sound both as a percussion instrument and as a bass.

I'll say it again without apologizing, I like the Bananna Bass. I'll bet it has a nice acoustic thwump. And I love the look!

Bassmonkee - let me know about the Atlanta get together, you never know, I might make it sometime. I would like to come down ther and do a solo gig sometime. Got any ideas for a good modest size venue?

Phil, no problem on using the pic. I have seen that one all over TalkBass, I guess it was a flashpoint of sorts for the Wish debate. Cracks me up...

The bottom line about the Wish for me is - it's folk art!

I think its great that everyone is so passionate about bass stuff. I used to think I was the only one!

With that bass, it takes a while to get around to noticing the shoes;)

I played a homemade bass at a local store recently that vaguely resembled a Buzzard bass. The funny thing was, after I played it for a while and didn't make fun of it, a couple of guys seriously considered buying it. Same thing happened with a child size Samick P bass that played very well and sounded like... that's right, a P bass. It sold that day.

Bass players can be such sheep sometimes. Screw peer pressure, like what you like*. That's how I ended up with my 78 Tobias;)


*of course, don't feel any pressure to like what you don't like :D

I really wanna get one of Wishy's Peanut basses. I think they look really cool.

I wonder if he would sell a body blank of it, then I could have a local luthier put on a neck (with truss rod;)), route pickups, (adjustable;))bridge, no soda can control plate ;), etc.


Overall, I think that Wish basses are.... different, in a good way. Some of his stuff looks really cool to me.

Hi, Let me tell you my wish story.
On 11-22-02 wish received my deposit for a four string fretless bass.
I was told that the bass would take 4-6weeks to complete.
It is now 12-weeks later, and no bass.
I know this bass is a big question mark. but for short money I was willin to see if Wish could produce a bass like he addvertized.
But after phone and e-mail run-a-rounds. I still don't have my bass. on 2-2-03 I was told bass would be shipped by 2-7-03. It is know 2-12-03?

whoops - Sorry Fred. It's all coming back to me. as I said is was a long night. Thoroughly enjoyable, even though I haven't had a hoochie koochie dancer AND a heckler in one set before... All you guys deserve a big thanks for putting that event together. Having done a few myself, I know how complicated it can be. Say hey to Dan.

I have a Wishnevsky EUB. I like it. It's a serious instrument to me. Of course there are things I would change about it but they don't affect the sound or the playability too much. I actually picked up the bass from Steve's shop and talked to him. Having seen his shop it may very well have been too cold. When I was up there before winter he was working on getting his shop better heated, I think. It was one of those kind of shops that just grow up over time without much planning, it seemed. Can't blame the guy for not wanting to freeze.

Also, he told me that ever since he put an ad in BassPlayer he's been flooded with orders, apparently far more than he ever suspected. It may be that he's running behind.

P.S. I don't think he builds cabinets anymore.
